2021 SS/OF
Riley Bender (Kingwood HS) has grown a ton in the past 6 months and still has room to fill out and add strength to his 6-foot-3, 175-pound frame. The long-limbed, right-handed hitting infielder has a leveraged hack with upside. Starting from an open stance, he uses a reverse leg lift load as he cocks the barrel over his head, then strides foward, getting the head out with a pull side approach and quick hands. On the infield, he has a quick first step and soft hands out front funnel the ball into a longer exchange. Short arm circle from a ¾ slot with a top velocity across the infield of 80 mph. Fields the ball left-of-center, can start the pivot from short with a quicker echange and throws with rhythm on the run.
