Atascocita vs. Kingwood

HUMBLE, TX— The Atascocita Eagles hosted the #3 ranked Kingwood Mustangs on Tuesday night to open up District 22-6A play. 

The Eagles opened up the evening with a run in the 1st off an RBI single for 2020 SS Blake Beachafter Kingwood 2020 RHP Masyn Winn (#6 in 2020 PBR Texas rankings, #28 in 2020 PBR overall rankings and #64 on 2020 PBR Draft Board; committed to Arkansas) walked two batters in the inning. Atascocita got their other two runs via errors in the 4th and 6th innings. 

For Kingwood, they got their runs in the 5th and 7th innings. In the 5th, it came off the bat of Winn on an RBI single with the bases loaded. He also scored the run in the 7th on a passed ball. 

On the bump for Atascocita was 2020 RHP Matthew Linskey (#68 in 2020 PBR Texas rankings, committed to Rice). Linskey allowed 1 run on 3 hits and struck out 9 batters with 2 walks in his 4+ IP as he came out with the bases loaded and no outs in the 5th. 2021 LHP Spence Mats came in and got out of the jam and then allowed 1 unearned run in his next two innings to earn the save for Atascocita. 

Winn got the start for Kingwood and went the distance. He allowed 3 runs, 1 earned, on two hits while striking out 8 and walking 3 batters. Once he got around the adrenaline of the 1st inning in this rivalry game, he settled down and only allowed one hit and one walk for the next 5 innings.
