Inside the 2025 Rankings - OF

Brandon Gowins
Assistant Scouting Director

TEXAS - The 2025 National Rankings were released  last week, and no surprise, the state of Texas was well represented with 26 of the 250 players residing in the Lone Star State. This class is well rounded and has a good mix of impact bats and high end arms.  As we roll out the initial State Rankings, there is a baseline for a deep class that will only continue to get deeper as their High School Careers play out.

In the next installment of Inside the 25 Rankings, we take a look at the Outfield position. There are some high end athletes with some loud tools in this group.  We break down the 4 that made the top 26.

Outfielders

Ed Small / Anderson, TX / 2025

1st in this group is Ed Small out of Austin Anderson. The 13th ranked player in the state and  two sport athlete shines at WR on the football field when he isn’t patrolling centerfield. The RHH has a physical presence in the box, and has a short, compact swing that is geared for hard contact to all parts of the field. He flashes 5 tool potential and is going to be one of the more exciting players to follow  as he matures.

Ty Hawkins OF / RHP / Johnson, TX / 2025

Next on the list is Ty Hawkins, coming in at 22nd in the state. Another 2 sport standout and future QB1 has some of the highest upside in the 2025 Class. The RHH has some of the quickest hands in the state, and potential for some real power down the road.  In the Outfield, the high waisted Hawkins can cover ground with the best of them, and as you may expect the QB has a good arm from the OF.

Blaine Bullard OF / LHP / Klein Cain, TX / 2025

Texas A&M commit, Blaine Bullard, is our 3rd OF in the initial rankings and comes in at 24th in the state. The Jr. Future Games member, and switch hitter, has one of the sweetest strokes in the class showing good rhythm and balance in the box.  There is a lot of projection left in the frame and some power should come as he matures.

Robert Mitchell OF / LHP / Naaman Forest, TX / 2025

The 4th OF on the list, and 25th ranked player in the state, is Robert Mitchell out of Naaman Forest HS. The twitchy High Waisted OF/LHP has plenty to dream on. There is still a lot of room to grow physically and has a chance to be a real two way threat.  He has a good approach in the box and uses the whole field.  As he gets stronger and uses his lower half more, there could be some future power as well.  He has an above average arm, as he has shown low 80’s velocity on the mound.
