THE WOODLANDS, TX - John Cooper School hosted The Woodlands Christian Academy on Tuesday night.
John Cooper 2019 RHP Reed Smith (No. 169 in 2019 PBR Texas rankings, committed to Northwestern) was dominant all night on the mound. Smith threw 6+ innings allowing no runs on one hit and two walks with seven strikeouts. He mixed three pitches for strikes and kept Woodlands Christian off balance. The lone hit he gave up came in the 5th inning on a two-out single from Woodlands Christian 2022 OF Carson Queck.
Offensively for John Cooper, they were led by 2019 1B/LHP Evan Godwin (No. 40 in 2019 PBR Texas rankings and No. 297 in 2019 PBR overall rankings, committed to Baylor) and 2020 OF Tyler Douglas(No. 107 in 2020 PBR overall rankings, committed to Davidson) who each had two hits and 2019 DH Ben Braun who led the team with two RBI.
2019 RHP Braden Sebesta finished off the game for John Cooper with a scoreless inning allowing one hit and one walk.
For Woodlands Christian, their two hits of the night came on singles from Queck and 2020 DH Matthew Trow.

Northwestern commit. Estimated 5-foot-10, 170-pound durable frame. The right-hander throws from a high ¾ slot with a long arm swing. His fastball was 83-85 mph early and 81-83 mph, later on, flashing some arm-side run inside to righties. Threw a curveball at 72-75 mph with 11-5 shape, primarily to his glove side for swing and misses outside the zone, flashing the ability to land in the zone for called strikes. Also threw a slider at 77-80 mph with 10-4 action, mixing it in the zone and outside the zone for a swing and miss and threw it backdoor to righties.
