Kansas Underclass Games: Outfield Analysis

Prep Baseball Report Kansas held the Kansas Underclass Games at Wichita State on June 20.  Nearly 60 players from around Missouri in Kansas participated.  The players attending were in the 2019 and 2020 classes. 

Players profiles have been updated with times, velocities, videos and player profiles.  In the days to come we will break down the event position by position, taking a inside look at the outfielders today. Players listed below are in alphabetical order

Outfielders

Austin Atkinson LHP / Clark, TX / 2020

Atkinson is a long and lean 6-foot-5 160-pound left-handed hitting outfielder in Texas’ 2020 class.  He ran a 7.84 60 and a 5.19 home to first.  He has a 74 mph exit velo. At the plate, open stance, controlled leg kick, smooth load in back side with slight hand load, swing on a downhill plane, mostly pull side line drives during batting practice.  In the outfield, 76 mph positional velo, over the top release, loose arm action, momentum though the catch, fluid footwork to the ball, clean exchange, mostly accurate throws.

Cole Diffenbaugh OF / Mulvane, KS / 2020

Diffenbaugh is a 5-foot-10 163-pound right-handed hitting outfielder in Kansas’ 2020 class.  He ran a 6.67 60 and a 4.25 home to first.  He has an 85 mph exit velo. At the plate, balanced swing with a short stride, smooth rhythm, controlled movements, middle and pull side contact during batting practice.  In the outfield, 78 mph positional velo, quick actions in both footwork and exchange, high three quarters release, works behind ball and through the catch, mostly accurate throws.

Jason Dudzik OF / Olathe South, KS / 2019

Dudzik is a 6-foot 155-pound right-handed hitting outfielder in Kansas’ 2019 class.  He ran a 7.16 60 and a 4.60 home to first.  He has a 77 mph exit velo. At the plate, hit solid line drives to all fields, simple and repeatable swing, smooth rhythm, stride walks away from hands, level swing path.  In the outfield, 77 mph positional velo, athletic actions, high three quarters release, arm works, small crow hop, clean exchange on time with footwork, throws are mostly accurate with carry. 

Quinton Hall OF / Mill Valley , KS / 2019

Hall is an athletic 6-foot-2 170-pound right-handed hitting outfielder in Kansas 2019 class.  He ran a 6.98 60 and a 4.60 home to first.  He has a 93 mph exit velo, recently committed to Wichita State. At the plate, powerful swing to the middle and pull side of the field, starts slightly open, in line stride, level swing path, stays on ball after contact, shows range in swing, quick and aggressive bat speed.  In the outfield, athletic actions, quick catch and throw, attacks ball, plays through catch, high three quarters release, throws are accurate and have carry, 88 mph positional velo.

Brock Hillebert OF / Seaman High School, KS / 2019

Hillebert is a well built 5-foot-10 165-pound right-handed hitting outfielder in Kansas’ 2019 class.  He ran a 7.17 60 and a 4.66 home to first.   He has an exit velocity of 89 mph. At the plate, Hoefer had consistent solid contact gap-to-gap, wide stance, short stride, smooth load, loose hands, had feel for the barrel.  In the outfield, 77 mph positional velo, high three quarters release, clean transfer, fluid footwork, works behind the ball, mostly accurate throws.

Kaeden Hoefer RHP / Goddard, KS / 2020

Hoefer is a 5-foot-11 180-pound right-handed hitting outfielder in Kansas’ 2020 class.  He ran a 6.96 60 and a 4.81 home to first.  He as an exit veto of 83 mph. At the plate, balanced stance, short stride, slight uphill bat path, showed contact to all fields during batting practice.  In the outfield, 80 mph positional velo, high three quarters release, works behind the ball the and through the catch, clean transfer, fluid footwork, mostly accurate throws.

Braxton Hyde RHP / Liberal , KS / 2020

Hyde is a projectable 6-foot-1 165-pound right-handed hitting outfielder in Kansas’ 2019 class.  He ran a 7.21 60 and a 4.94 home to first.  He has an exit velocity of 81 mph. At the plate, balanced set up, short stride, feel for the barrel, swing produced line drives to all fields during batting practice, body stays under control.  In the outfield, 76 mph positional velo, high three quarters release, take route behind the ball, clean transfer with fluid footwork, mostly accurate throws.

Samuel Juarez OF / Seaman High School, KS / 2019

Juarez is a 5-foot-8 155-pound right-handed hitting outfielder in Kansas’ 2019 class.  He ran a 6.90 60 and a 4.19 home to first.  He has an exit velocity of 77 mph. At the plate, solid consistent contact gap-to-gap in batting practice, balanced set up, slightly closed stride, smooth load, level path through the hitting zone, feel for the barrel, controlled swing.  In the outfield, 77 mph positional velo, loose high three quarter arm slot, quick actions, momentum through the catch, quick catch and throw, mostly accurate throws flashing carry.

Elijah McCarter 2B / Liberal , KS / 2020

McCarter is a 5-foot-7 137-pound right-handed hitting outfielder in Kansas’ 2020 class.  He ran a 6.94 60 and a 4.66 home to first.  He has a 76 mph exit velocity.  At the plate, balanced set up, slight load with rhythm, hands dominate the swing, body stays under control, middle to pull side line drives during batting practice.  In the outfield, 76 mph positional velo, high three quarter arm slot, fluid catch and throw, mostly accurate throws.

Christopher Messbarger OF / Olathe Northwest, KS / 2020

Messbarger is a 6-foot-2 175-pound right-handed hitting outfielder in Kansas’ 2020 class.  He ran a 8.33 60 and a 5.45 home to first.  He has an exit velocity of 79 mph.  At the plate, balanced stance, minimal load with no wasted movement, short stride, hands dominate the swing, level path, middle to pull side contact.  In the outfield, 79 mph positional velo, three quarters arm slot, works behind and through the ball, clean transfer with mostly accurate throws.

Alec Michaud SS / Fort Scott , KS / 2019

Michaud is a 5-foot-10 155-pound right-handed hitting outfielder in Kansas’ 2019 class.  He ran a 7.04 60 and 4.45 home to first.  He has an exit velocity of 73 mph. At the plate, athletic stance, smooth rhythm, solid middle to opposite field line drives, short stride, level bat path, repeats swing and shows feel for the barrel.  In the outfield, 75 mph positional velo, athletic actions, quick catch and throw, high three quarters arm slot, aggressive to the ball with momentum to throw, mostly accurate throws, some with carry.

Jackson Stremming OF / Blue Valley Northwest, KS / 2019

Stremming is a 5-foot-9 160-pound left-handed hitting outfielder in Kansas’ 2019 class.  He Rana. 7.95 60 and a 4.97 home to first.  He has a 78 mph exit velo. At the plate, starts with a wide base and short stride, minimal hand movement, body under control, level path, gap to gap approach.  In the outfield, 78 mph positional velo.  In the outfield, high three quarters release, fluid actions, clean transfer on time with footwork, accurate throws.

Jackson Syring OF / Derby , KS / 2019

Syring is an athletic 6-foot- 180-pound right-handed hitting outfielder in Kansas’ 2019 class.  He ran a 7.07 60 and a 4.33 home to first.  He has an 89 mph exit velocity. At the plate, aggressive swing, pull side power, advanced swing with strength, repeats, load has no wasted movement, solid consistent hard contact during batting practice.  In the outfield, 82 mph positional velo, athletic and quick, works behind the ball and through the catch, loose and accurate high three quarters release, lefty thrower. 

 

Jackson Rice OF / Olathe South, KS / 2019

Rice is a 6-foot-1 155-pound left-handed hitting outfielder in Kansas’ 2019 class.  He ran a 7.26 60 and a 4.53 home to first.  He has an exit velocity of 83 mph.  At the plate, barreled up ball gap to gap consistently, loose hands, smooth load, repeats swing, feel for the barrel, balanced swing.  In the outfield, 74 mph positional velo, high three quarters release, clean glove to hand transfer, fluid footwork, momentum through the catch, mostly accurate throws, projectable frame.
