BAYTOWN, TX - The Kingwood Mustangs just keep winning games. Junior left-hander Cody Lancaster was fabulous in his complete game 3-hit bid. Lancaster was very effective at attacking the zone with three pitches, and kept Goose Creek off balance all night. Kingwood was led defensively by a pair of freshman in the middle of the field, shortstop Tre Richardson and second baseman Masyn Winn. Winn had a strong game that included a sweet assist in the hole, as well as a leaping tag on a runner trying to steal second base. Winn also capped the night for the Mustangs when he drilled a sharp line-drive single the other way for 2 RBI's in the top of the 7th. Kingwood was led offensively by sophomore Luke Johnson who was 2-2 with an RBI and 2 runs scored. The Mustang offense which starts just 2 seniors competes well at the plate and is very aggressive on the bases.

Goose Creek was led by senior Ty Cook at the plate and on the mound. Cook went 1-3 with an RBI double in the bottom of the 5th, the lone run the Patriots would score. Cook came in for relief of starting pitcher and sophomore Oscar Moralez (Louisiana Lafayette recruit). Moralez only went 3 innings in his start, but is a very capable arm with an electric fastball and a sharp slider. Cook was dominant in relief, only giving up one hit in four innings. But the damage was already done, and Kingwood prevailed with a 5-1 victory and remain in 1st place with an 8-1 record in district.
