ARGYLE, TX - Tuesday night began district play across Texas and we had an opportunity to go see two highly touted arms pitch in the same game. Taking the mound for Liberty Christian was 2018 RHP Dawson Barr, a TCU commit that is ranked No. 46 in the Texas 2018 Class. While another TCU commit, 2020 LHP River Ridings, ranked No. 31 in the Texas 2020 Class, started for Prestonwood.

Barr threw a scoreless top of the first, working around a walk and a single, and recording his first of ten punchouts on the evening. In the bottom half, 2018 CF Kason Howell, an Auburn recruit, would set the tone for the Liberty offense with an infield single to shortstop. Liberty got three runs in the first with a big 2 RBI double off the bat of Logan Graham, and a single by Landon Munday.

Both starters were much sharper in the second inning. Barr struck out 6 of the first 8 batters he faced. While Ridings didn’t allow a run in the second and recorded two strikeouts. The sophomore showed great poise, working around multiple defensive miscues and several walks. He was ultimately lifted in the third inning after allowing 3 earned runs on 5 hits.

The Warriors put up a 10 spot in the third, behind another hit from Kason Howell, this time a 3 RBI triple down the right field line. With the score 13-0 in favor of the Warriors, we left early to catch the end of another game in town. Final score Liberty 13, Prestonwood 3.
