Marcus vs. Denton Guyer: Game 1

PLANO, TX - Denton Guyer HS scored four runs in the top of the first inning to take a commanding lead over Marcus HS in the opening game of the Bi-District playoffs on Friday night. The Wildcats loaded the bases with no outs, then Jordan Beminio drove in the first run on a single through the right side. Luke Piper followed with a two-RBI double down the right field line, and Jared Walker knocked in the fourth run of the inning.

Marcus answered in the bottom half of the first with an RBI-double from Hampton Hall, but Guyer would get that run back in the top of the second. The Wildcats held on to the 5-1 lead until the sixth inning. The Marauders got a run in the sixth, and another in the seventh, but Guyer held on for the 5-3 win.

Guyer starting pitcher Cade Branum got the win, throwing 6.1 innings, allowing three runs on five hits, four strikeouts, and three walks.

Marcus would go on to win the last two games of the series and advance to the next round of the Texas High School Playoffs.
