North Texas Scouting Roundup

Toby Bicknell
Texas Scouting Director

DALLAS, TX - Hats off to all the coaches and players this past weekend for braving the elements on what was an unseasonably cold weekend in North Texas. Here are some scout notes from Thursday and Friday on some of the top players in the area.

Bobby Witt Jr. is not only the No. 1 ranked player in TX, the No. 1 Player Overall, but also the No. 1 in the 2019 PBR HS Draft, and the Oklahoma commit waisted no time opening everyones eyes for a cold noon tee time on Thursday. Coach McDougal has Witt Jr. in the leadoff spot, which makes a lot of sense when you think about the rest of the thunder in Colleyville’s lineup. In his first AB, Junior sent a missile into the right-centerfield gap, one-hopping the wall for a double. He just missed another hit when he lifted a sky high fly ball to left that he just missed toward the end of barrel. In his third AB, he hit a sharp single through a drawn in infield for an RBI. Defensively, he made a stellar play on a scorcher in the six hole, diving to his backhand, popping up and throwing a strike to first base, but speedy leadoff guy Elijah Nunez beat it out (video of the Nunez swing is below).
