PBR Draft Board Risers

Nathan Rode and David Seifert

We're past the halfway point of the spring season and the 2019 MLB Draft is in 47 days. The 2019 PBR Draft Board is being updated and will be released on Thursday. When it is, you'll notice the following names on an upward trend.

Matt Allan, RHP, Seminole HS, FL
A Florida recruit, Allan was already a notable prospect, but has made a jump into the top 10 after a hot start. Pitching with a mid-90s fastball and potential plus breaking ball, he could be one of the first high school arms off the board in June. He has continued to fill out and has a prototypical starter’s frame. The arm action is clean throughout and works to extension, getting the fastball to work downhill. The curveball sits mostly 77-81 and induces swings and misses. He also mixes in a changeup, which shows average to above-average potential.

Hunter Bishop, OF, Arizona State
Standing at a strong 6-foot-5, 210 pounds, Bishop is as explosive as they come. He has above-average grades in all categories, except for his arm. He has big raw power to the middle of the field that he shows in batting practice and it is now translating to games. After hitting just 10 home runs in his first two seasons at Arizona State, he now has 17 through 35 games. He isn’t all or nothing, showing the ability to adjust his swing and barreling baseballs even when his timing is off. He still shows swing-and-miss tendencies and must cut down on that, but he has huge upside. He is also a plus runner, running with short strides. He can play a shallow center field, using his speed and first-step quickness to cover ground.
