SEASON PREVIEW
Coach McPherson's club is returning a stacked team in 2018, headlined by three D1 commits, two on the bump and one in the middle infield. The Tigers finished 2017 with a 27-10 clip, and an appearance in the Regional Quarterfinals. They will rely heavily on 2018 RHP Coy Cobb (Texas commit) and 2018 RHP Christian Vega (Incarnate Word commit) to lead them on the mound. Ranked No. 25 in the Texas 2018 Class, Cobb's fastball sits in the upper 80's and will hit 90 mph, but the right-hander also has the off-speed repertoire to put hitters away.
Bolstering the defense will be a solid group of seniors, including SS/2B Hayden Ebrecht (Dallas Baptist commit), C Michael Schrab (Panola JC commit), OF Chris Amador, and OF Matthew Kissamis. Ebrecht, ranked No. 78 in TX, is a solid all-around player with outstanding instincts for the game. Schrab is strong behind the plate and has the arm strength to help control the running game. With Amador's speed in the outfield, the Tigers should be able to keep the double play in order. Look for 2020 SS/RHP Alec Atkinson to have an impact on varsity this year as well. Atkinson added a significant amount of strength this fall and is currently ranked No. 60 in the Texas 2020 Class.
