Team Preview: Kingwood Park
January 27, 2020
The Texas high school season kicks off on February 24, the first day for regular season games. Most teams will begin practicing on January 31, getting their rosters set and finalizing their lineups.
Over the next several weeks, leading up to opening day, we will be rolling out team previews of high school teams all across the state and across all classifications, eventually launching our Preseason Power 25.
We have been sending out our annual Preseason Questionnaire to coaches all across the state and as the responses flood in we will bring you a snapshot of what to expect along with top players and keys to success for that particular team. If you don’t see your team’s season preview make sure your head coach fills out his Preseason Questionnaire.

SEASON PREVIEW
Kingwood Park and coach Bruce Cox return seven players from their 2019 team, where plenty of young players got varsity experience. Coach Cox returns players in the most critical spots on the field, up the middle and on the mound. Up the middle, junior SS/RHP Matthew King (committed to UTSA) and junior catcher Jonas Holloway (No. 99 in 2021 PBR Texas rankings, committed to UTSA) both return. On the mound, senior LHP Jackson Rodriguez (committed to LSU-Eunice) returns for his third season atop the rotation. Others expected to contribute in the lineup and on the mound are senior RHP/1B Tyler Boutot, senior IF/RHP AJ Gonzalez, junior OF/RHP Zach Rennard and junior UTL CJ Schoettlin.
