Texas Commitment Roundup (Week of 8/25)

Prep Baseball Report Texas has installed a new feature titled “Texas Commitment Roundup”, where the PBR Texas staff will recap recent collegiate commitments made by players native to the state.

COMMITMENT: Panola Junior College SCOUTING REPORT: He maintains balance throughout the swing, and handles the bat well. Has a smooth approach and showed the ability to consistently barrel up the baseball all over the field with gap-to-gap power. He has smooth actions from the shortstop position, and projects to stay in the middle of the field with his athleticism, footwork, and arm strength. He has soft hands and fields the ball out in front of his body with a solid glove angle working through the baseball. He played himself into hops well with his feet, and was accurate from different arm angles at 81 mph.

Dylan Leach C / 3B / Carthage, TX / 2021COMMITMENT: University of Arkansas SCOUTING REPORT: He exhibits natural strength throughout his frame, especially in the lower-half, and looks bigger than his listed 5-foot-11, 175-pound frame. He was patient at the plate with advanced pitch recognition and balance, and showcased a flat barrel through the zone with strength. Utilizing a strong bottom hand, Leach hit a couple balls with authority, and looks to be a potential power threat moving forward.

Jack Hamilton RHP / A&M Consolidated, TX / 2021COMMITMENT: Texas A&M University SCOUTING REPORT: He looks much more physical than his listed 6-foot, 160-pound frame, and features natural strength throughout including the lower-half as well as having broad shoulders. Utilizing a simple, well-paced delivery, Hamilton works linear down the mound releasing out of a high ¾ slot.
