Texas JUCO Week 9 Recap
March 26, 2019
This past week saw of teams starting put there spot on the conference standings. Odessa had their first Conference loss this past week to Clarendon but still hold onto the top spot in the WJCAC with an 11-1 record. McLennan is out in front in the NTJCAC with an 11-1 record. There is a tie on top of Region 14-East between Panola and Navarro both sitting at 9-3. There is also a tie for the top spot in Region 14-South between San Jac and Alvin who are both 11-4. North Lake has been the surprise of the DAC this season still with an undefeated conference record at 12-0.

This past week saw 8 teams have undefeated weeks: #1 McLennan (4-0), #2 Grayson (2-0), #8 Tyler(4-0), #10 Howard (5-0), #11 Midland(5-0), #19 Wharton (3-0), #23 North Lake (3-0), and El Paso (4-0).
This week we will dive into three of those weeks as well as the Hitter and Pitcher of the Week.
#10 Howard (5-0)
Howard played all 5 games this past week against Western Texas. One on Tuesday, with doubleheaders on Saturday and Sunday. They outscored Western 36-19. Leading the way for them over the course of those 5 games was FR INF Brandon Pimentel who was 10-19 with 1 home run and 10 runs batted in, SO INF Lance Russell (uncommitted) who hit .381 with 3 doubles, 3 runs batted in and 6 runs, and SO RHP/RF Nick Jodway (Marshall) who only had 4 hits over 4 games but 3 of them were home runs that went along with 8 runs batted in and 4 runs.
On the mound in game 3 FR RHP Nicco Cole (Cal State Fullerton) pitched 8 shut out innings striking out 6 with only 4 hits.
#11 Midland (5-0)
Midland started their week on Tuesday when they hosted New Mexico. The beat them by the score of 5-2, thanks to a 3-rbi triple by CF Deylan Pigford in the 5th that put them up 4-1.
Over the weekend they hosted New Mexico Military. They beat them by the combined score of 29-10. Leading the way in those 4 games was SO OF Jordan Billups (Marshall) who was 5-11 with 2 doubles, 2 home runs, 9 runs batted in and 6 runs scored, and 3B Ethan Mann who 8-15 with 2 doubles, a home run, 3 runs batted in and 5 runs.
#23 North Lake (3-0)
North Lake has been the Surprise of the DAC this season. They are currently 12-0 in conference and 20-13 overall, their last loss was the Division 2 power Murray State (OK) and are 15-1 since conference play started at the end of February. They took on Brookhaven this past week after being off for 5 days. They beat them by the combined score of 32-18. Those games were lead by SO INF Andrew Gorham (uncommitted) who was 8-14 with 2 doubles, a triple, 2 home runs, with 7 runs batted in and 7 runs, and SO INF Dillion Eatman (uncommitted) who was 6-15 with 2 doubles, a triple, and 5 runs batted in.

Hitter of the Week
Paris- SO C/OF Ian Groves (uncommitted)
.438, 1 Double, 3 Home Runs, 12 Runs Batted In, 7 Runs Scored, 3 Stolen Bases
Groves was one of the key parts of Paris’s success this week. He also hit a 3-run Home run in the top of the 9th with an 0-2 count to put them ahead of Bossier Parish 6-4.
Pitcher of the Week
Blinn- SO RHP Jacob Millender (Texas State)
1-0, 8 Innings Pitched, 9 Strike Outs, 2 Walks, 1 Earned Run
Millender was the only win that Blinn got this week against San Jac, where he outlasted one of the top arms in the country Jackson Rutledge (Kentucky).
