Texas Twelve Scout Day 2027s: Quick Hits

On Saturday, September 5th, the PB Texas staff traveled to Cotton Sports Ranch in Katy, TX, to host the Texas Twelve Scout Day: 2027s, an exclusive event for 2027 grads within the Texas Twelve travel program.
Nearly 50 players made their way to Cotton Sports Ranch and participated in a pro-style workout, gathering unrivaled access to data through our state-of-the-art tech partners, as well as in-depth scouting analysis from our Prep Baseball Texas staff.
We have already released a Statistical Analysis from the event, highlighting more of the traditional statistical categories. Today, we will be providing scouting takeaways on some of the top performers from the event, found below.

Marcus Barron | OF | Ingleside | 2027 | 5'10" 190
Physical corner OF with present strength in the hands and barrel. At the plate, works with a flat path and pull-side approach, showing doubles pop with the ability to leave the yard, including a home run in game play. Defensively, the feet work with solid actions and arm strength up to 84 mph from the OF. Strong offensive profile with the ability to impact the baseball and provide power from a corner spot.
Luke Betancourt | SS/RHP | Fulshear | 2027 | 6'1" 164
Smooth, rangy defender on the dirt with rhythm to the feet and glove and a quick exchange. Arm strength and speed headline the tool set, posting a 6.90 sixty while showing the ability to make throws from across the diamond, including a plus play from the deep 6-hole in game play. At the plate, shows quick hands with room for more impact as strength is added. On the mound, has been up to 88 mph with a quick arm and an easy delivery. Versatile athlete with the defensive actions and arm strength to impact the game in multiple ways.
Colton Cockerham | 1B | Jordan | 2027 | 5'11" 185
Solid 1B with feet that work around the bag and present glove actions, showing arm strength up to 82 mph. At the plate, features quick hands with a controlled leg kick and the ability to drive the baseball for extra bases. Produced exit velocities up to 100.2 mph while collecting a double in game play. Quality offensive foundation with present impact and solid defensive ability around the bag.
Colt Copeland | LHP | Troy | 2027 | 6'2" 185
Lean LHP with a projectable 6'2", 185 pound frame and an arm that works with more velocity in the tank. Fastball sits 82-83+ mph, showing the ability to fill the zone and attack hitters. Curveball has depth with spin rates over 2200 rpm, while the changeup shows quality movement at approximately -17 HM. Shows present pitchability with feel for a three-pitch mix and room for the stuff to continue developing.
Reed Cox | RHP | Cedar Ridge | 6'5" 200
Long, projectable RHP with an athletic arm and plenty of room to continue developing the 6'5", 200 pound frame. Works from an in-place rock step into a coiled leg lift, creating some crossfire and deception through the delivery. Fastball sits 86-87+ mph with more velocity likely to come as the frame fills out. Mixes a 69-73 mph curveball and 78-79 mph changeup, giving him a solid three pitch foundation.
Hudson Hartstack | RHP | Brenham | 2027 | 6'1" 175
Clean arm path with an effortless delivery, working exclusively from the stretch with a quality three-pitch mix. Fastball sits 85-87+ mph with sink, pairing well with a 77-80 mph slider that features short, quick break. Splitter works 77-78 mph with down action, giving hitters a different look off the fastball. Dominated his inning of game play, striking out all three hitters he faced. Player to watch this spring as the stuff and overall mound presence continue to develop.
Camden Kurtz | 3B/RHP | Concordia Lutheran | 2027 | 5'10" 178
Strong two way player with present tools on both sides of the ball. At the plate, shows a pull side approach with strength to the barrel and extra-base hit juice. Moves well for a corner INF profile with a plus arm, reaching 90 mph across the diamond with a full arm path. On the mound, features an athletic arm and fills the zone with a four pitch mix, working 85-87 mph with the fastball, a 73 mph curveball with depth and 2500+ rpm, a 76-77 mph slider with sweep, and a 79 mph changeup. Strike thrower with the arm strength and athleticism to make another velocity jump.
Grayson Marek | INF | Alvin | 2027 | 5'9" 185
Solid INF with quality actions on the dirt, showing feet that work well, rhythm to the catch, and a quick exchange. Features a compact arm path with plenty of arm strength, reaching 89 mph across the diamond. At the plate, shows quick hands with a singles and doubles style approach, working down and through the baseball while creating backspin with exit velocities up to 96.5 mph. Showed the offensive approach in game play with a line drive double to RCF.
Cash McWhorter | OF | The Woodlands | 2027 | 6'1" 180
Rangy OF with a 6.67 sixty and the versatility to handle all three spots. Shows solid instincts with quality range and feel for the position. At the plate, the left-handed hitter features a smooth stroke with quick hands, creating backspin and showing pop to both gaps with exit velocities up to 98 mph. Carried the offensive tools into game play with a 97 mph line drive double to LCF.
Brayden Naegele | INF/OF | Salado | 2027 | 5'10" 180
Strong, athletic player with a quality combination of speed and arm strength, posting a 6.63 sixty and reaching 88 mph across the INF. Feet work well defensively as he plays through the baseball with solid actions. At the plate, shows quick hands with strength to the barrel, working from a balanced setup with rhythm while creating quality bat speed and exit velocities up to 102.2 mph. Impacted the baseball in game play with two doubles off the LF wall.
Will Newhouse | OF | Second Baptist | 2027 | 6'0" 180
Athletic corner OF with solid tools on both sides of the ball. Posted a 7.08 sixty with arm strength up to 88 mph from the OF, showing carry to the throw and a quick exchange. At the plate, features quick hands with a flat path and a pull side approach, producing exit velocities up to 95.9 mph. Shows doubles pop with the ability to drive the baseball with authority to the pull side.
Noah Powell | C | The Bennett School | 2027 | 5'10" 180
Solid catching profile with consistent catch and release skills, producing pop times of 2.00 to 2.02 with quick feet and accuracy to the bag. Receives well behind the plate and shows a quality overall feel for the position. Offensively, has rhythm to the hands with some buggy whip to the barrel, producing exit velocities up to 95.4 mph. Gap to gap style hitter with quickness to the barrel and a solid offensive foundation.
Christian Rodriguez | RHP | Brandeis | 2027 | 5'11" 205
Strong frame and build with the physicality to continue developing on the mound. Fastball sits 86 to 87 mph with 2300+ rpm, approximately 20 IVB and 17 HM, showing quality life with tilt and ride through the zone. Curveball works 73 to 74 mph with developing spin and shape. Raw arm talent with present fastball traits and plenty of upside as the secondary stuff continues to develop.
Julian Suarez | C | Sinton | 2027 | 5'9" 185
Quality catching profile with pop times ranging from 1.92 to 2.01, showing a quick exchange and footwork that creates good direction toward 2B. Accurate thrower with consistent catch and throw ability behind the plate. At the plate, features quick hands and strength to the barrel with a flat path through the zone, producing exit velocities up to 99.9 mph. Shows gap to gap pop with the ability to drive the baseball to both sides of the field.
Tyler Witt | RHP | Burton | 2027 | 6'1" 155
Lean, projectable RHP with a 6'1", 155 pound frame and plenty of room to add strength. Features a clean arm path from a high three quarter slot with a quick hand. Fastball sits 84 to 86 mph with late life, pairing with a 75 to 78 mph slider that shows 2300+ rpm. Also mixes a changeup around 74 mph and curveball around 68 mph, giving him a four pitch mix with plenty of upside as the frame continues to mature.
