Week 6 (April 12-17) Player and Pitcher of the Week
April 20, 2021
In our week 6 PBR Utah player coverage, I've been out at games consistently during the spring and will continue to cover games through the conclusion of the season. We are looking forward to seeing many more players compete. This list includes players from all over the state of Utah that play across the different classifications of high school baseball. These performances have been organized through an extensive evaluation process that includes our live game coverage as well as combing through box scores and outside recommendations. We have also used valued scouts & local coaches for player recommendations. Not on the list and feel you got overlooked? Don't assume your coaches will pass along your successes! The squeaky wheel gets the grease. Feel free to tag us in any social media posts. We may not like or retweet them all but we're definitely paying attention. Send your video and any and all game stats from the previous week for consideration. You don't have to have attended a PBR event for a mention of your weekly successes, but it does help to know who is behind the stats. If you're wondering whether or not to attend a showcase or event, just think what's the upside if you don't. I want to see you and get to know you. I've established close relationships with dozens of players in the past 6 months, and my network is vast after a 20 year full-time MLB scouting career. I always respond to player correspondence and will help in the process of aiding you in your quest to play at the next level.
Player of the Week
Fisher Ingersoll SS / 2B / American Fork , UT / 2022The BYU commit had another dominating week with the bat and is one of the 3-4 driving forces behind #4 ranked and undefeated American Fork, as they sport a 12-0 record. The lean athletic Ingersoll, the son of his head Coach, Jarod Ingersoll, is also one of the states best WR on the gridiron, but his baseball exploits garnered the attention of BYU and will be an impact bat once he steps on campus, if the pro ranks don't come calling first. Stats for the Week: G 3 AB 9 R 5 H 6 HR 1 RBI 4 2B 2 BB 3 Stats for the Year: G 12 AB 30 R 19 H 20 AVG .667 HR 1 RBI 14 2B 4 3B 4 BB 9 SO 5 SB 5 |
Other Notable Performances
Ryder Robinson SS / 2B / American Fork, UT / 2023Rankings State Rank: 6 / POS: 3
The lean athletic and highly projectable MIF, that plays in deference to Ingersoll at SS, is a SS by trade, but hold down 2B and is a slick fielding defender with a high contact bat, that squares balls up consistently. Only a sophomore, but is playing like an upperclassman. The power is light now, because of his young age, but it will develop nicely as his 6-1 165 frame matures over the years. Look for Robinson to establish his name in the state for another couple of years, and is one of the best 3 MIF's in the state. Stats for the Week: G 3 AB 9 R 6 H 6 RBI 1 BB 2 SB 1 Stats for the Year: G 12 AB 35 R 23 H 17 AVG .486 RBI 7 2B 2 BB 4 SO 2 SB 3 |
Kaden Carpenter OF / LHP / American Fork, UT / 2022Rankings State Rank: 9 / POS: 4
The long limbed and physical presence of Carpenter at the plate or in CF, along with his power bat and weekly performances, is one of the reasons American Fork is off to a blistering 12-0 start. Also a LHP that is 88-90 with the FB, but the power bat, good speed for a big kid, and his graceful actions in CF, make him a legit D1 prospect. Stats for the Week: G 3 AB 10 R 2 H 3 HR 2 (one a GS) RBI 8 2B 1 Stats for the Year: G 12 AB 35 R 10 H 16 AVG .457 HR 3 RBI 18 2B 6 3B 4 BB 5 SO 3 |
Maxton Peck C / 1B / Bingham, UT / 2022Rankings State Rank: 18 / POS: 4
Peck has been squaring up balls all spring with an absurd .667 batting avg. The stocky strong and well built backstop has been manning 1B and serving as the DH. Stats for the Year: (One game not posted by team) G 2 AB 7 R 3 H 6 RBI 4 3B 1 Stats for the Year: G 11 AB 30 R 10 H 20 .667 RBI 12 2B 1 3B 2 BB 6 SO 2 |
Joey Brooks C / Desert Hills, UT / 2021Had a spectacular week in Desert Hills 2 game Region 9 sweep of Hurricane. The culminating blow, was a 3-run walk off HR to take game two, 16-6 in a shortened 6 inning affair. I was in attendance and Joey was a new player for me, and all he did was bang the ball. Stats for the Week: G 2 AB 7 R 2 H 5 HR 1 RBI 9 2B 1 BB 1 Stats for the Year: G 17 AB 44 R 8 H 11 AVG .250 HR 2 RBI 18 2B 6 3B 3 BB 11 SO 18 |
Dalin Ludlow SS / RHP / Juab, UT / 2021Rankings State Rank: 16 / POS: 3
The Minot State commit has been putting up spectacular numbers all spring, and is the driving force of the 16-1 and number 8 ranked team in the PBR Utah Power 20. Ludlow is a two guy, and his services were not needed on the week in 2 blow put wins for the "Wasps". Stats for the Week: G 2 AB 7 R 5 H 5 RBI 2 2B 1 3B 1 BB 1 SB 1 Stats for the Year: G 17 AB 60 R 25 H 28 AVG .467 HR 1 RBI 25 2B 5 3B 2 BB 9 SO 7 SB 19 |
Mason Strong C / OF / Snow Canyon, UT / 2021The state's best player in the 2021 class, just keeps rolling along. The BYU commit had another big week and he hasn't had an off week yet. The future impact bat has been getting MLB scout looks, but with the draft so unpredictable, you look to the present and with Strong and his leadership behind the plate, and his errorless play to date in 19 games, the "Warriors" have a state title in their sites. Stats for the Week: G 2 AB 7 R 2 H 5 HR 2 RBI 5 2B 1 SB 1 Stats for the Year: G 19 AB 61 R 10 H 30 AVG .492 HR 6 RBI 38 2B 11 3B 1 BB 8 SO 17 |
Mayze Mosher 3B / C / Snow Canyon, UT / 2021Rankings State Rank: 15 / POS: 1
The solidly build and athletic 3B, who is the best defensive player in his class at the position, is having a big year at the plate. The Coll of Southern Nevada commit, is racking up the RBI totals and is one of the big reasons why the Warriors are the #1 ranked team in the Utah Power 20. Stats for the Week: G 2 AB 8 R 2 H 4 HR 1 RBI 5 2B 1 SB 1 Stats for the Year: G 19 AB 58 R 15 H 24 AVG .414 HR 2 RBI 33 2B 5 3B 4 BB 8 SO 12 SB 3 |
Sam Lindsey OF / C / Snow Canyon , UT / 2023Rankings State Rank: 12 / POS: 3
The strong bat of an impact sophomore, Lindsey has been dominate since his little league days. Now that he's in HS, he hasn't missed a beat. Currently playing RF, and will move back behind the pate next year, when Mason Strong heads to BYU, Lindsey started to get time a handful of games into the season, and hasn't looked back. Stats for the Week: G 2 AB 6 R 4 H 4 RBI 2 2B 1 3B 1 BB 1 Stats for the Year: G 11 AB 28 R 11 H 12 AVG .429 HR 1 RBI 10 2B 3 3B 1 BB 2 SO 8 |
Billy Bird LHP / 1B / Timpanogos, UT / 2023Rankings State Rank: 4 / POS: 1
Big "Bills" had a great week with the bat, as he helped Timpanogos sweep Alta in a 3 game region series and now the Timberwolves are heading in a steady direction, with their sites set on a deep playoff run. Stats for the Week: G 3 AB 9 R 6 H 3 HR 2 RBI 6 2B 1 BB 1 Stats for the Year: G 16 AB 47 R 12 H 16 AVG .340 HR 2 RBI 17 2B 4 3B 0 BB 4 SO 6 |
Jackson Bird C / 3B / Timpanogos , UT / 2021The older brother of Billy, Jackson has been a leader behind the pate and works with one of the better pitching staffs in the state. At the plate Jackson is having a solid year and colleges need to get on this kid and get him in the fold. Stats for the Week: G 3 AB 8 R 1 H 4 RBI 2 2B 2 BB 2 Stats for the Year: G 16 AB 49 R 7 H 19 AVG .388 HR 1 RBI 18 2B 6 3B 1 BB 8 SO 4 |
Pitcher of the Week
Janzen Keisel RHP / SS / Gunnison Valley, UT / 2021PBR Super 60 participant The BYU commit and #1 ranked player in the state, has been blowing away batters all spring, thanks to a 90-95 mph FB with late life and the ball jumps on hitters! Keisel is this weeks Pitcher of the Week and if there was an overall award, he would have garnered that as well. Keisel not only did it on the mound, but was a force at the plate as well. Shayden Benson LHP / 1B / Parowan, UT / 2022Rankings State Rank: 12 / POS: 2
The 6-6 LHP from the tiny town of Parowan, UT is dominating the competition at the 2A level, albeit effectively wild and with spotty defense behind him. Stats for the Week: IP 5 H 2 R 2 ER 0 BB 1 SO 10 Stats for the Year: APP 7 W 3 L 3 ERA 3.71 IP 26.2 H 22 R 23 ER 11 BB 10 SO 50 |

Moved in on Jan 1 at the break from San Diego, and has given the Falcons of Skyridge a jolt in the arm with his 85-88 mph FB.
