Game Performance

3/06/22

The Columbia Basin CC commit has improved his game every step of the way, over the last year + since he’s attended our events. A lean athletic build and room for added weight and strength at maturity, Bowen has more floors left to climb in reaching his ceiling. A strong accurate arm from the OF at 83 mph, Bowen also shows solid mechanics and movement patterns in his hitting stroke at the plate. Has a solid load and turn of the knob, into a good stretch from hip and shoulder separation. At contact, he hits off a firm front side and keeps his head behind the baseball. I look forward to seeing a strong spring from him.

11/21/21

Bowen has the potential to be a legit two way player at the JC level, but the bat looks to have made huge strides over the summer and fall, and that’s where I would lean for his immediate and future potential. The stroke was clean and direct, while staying compact and short to the ball and spraying hard LD’s to the pull side and making barreled contact out front. Showed efficient clean actions defensively with soft hands and an accurate on the money arm. Also ran a 6.84/60 and was one of the better runners at the event.

3/22/21

An avg runner at 6.84 in the 60 yard dash and showed athleticism with solid movement patterns throughout the event. An arm of 80 mph with accurate one hop throws from RF in a workout setting with proper throwing mechanics and good ext out front, while working through balls and getting into a solid position to throw. The hitting mechs are sound and he didn’t sell out for metrics, but took a controlled round of BP with his back hip hinged and gets into his legs through out the swing pattern. The load is sound at 45 degrees and turns the knob well to start the swing and stays inside the baseball to provide a sound swing with some uphill to a LD approach. The bat released on tIme with a smooth one hand high finish. Little wasted movement with the stroke and shows the tools to play at the next level.
