Cosby Titans:

Giovanni Briggs LHP / 1B / Cosby, VA / 2024

Saw two innings of work from Briggs in last weeks tournament game. Pitchability is the key word with the sophomore left hander. He is not gonna blow you away, but he is going to move it in and out and is not going to give in to counts and situations. Showed flashes of solid fastball command to the arm side in the first two innings and showed a really solid changeup at 74-76 mph. The changeup had similar arm speed as the fastball and tunneled well off of it, with late diving action. The fastball sat 79-81 with some arm side run and he kept it down in the zone, which with his lower spin and sink played well down.

Caleb Grizzard LHP / OF / Cosby, VA / 2022

Grizzard sat 84-86 mph early on in his start on Saturday and his control was a bit more scattered than what we are used to seeing with him. However, the one thing you know about Grizzard is that he is going to compete with whatever stuff he has that day. At the plate it is a loose, rhythmic swing that stays in the zone for a long time and shows solid adjustability. Is more gap to gap with doubles power and more to both gaps.

Jacob Moore SS / 2B / Cosby, VA / 2024

After a couple of standout performances this fall and winter in front of our staff we were excited to get a chance to see Moore in game action this spring. Not much has changed. High motor, athletic actions at short, and a versatile defender that can play in the outfield as well. At the plate Moore is very aggressive in his approach and swing, looking to do damage at all times. The swing is on the shorter side with above average bat speed and a whippy barrel through the zone. Natural loft built in and doubles power to all fields. This will be an interesting follow as Moore gets more at bats at the varsity level and gets more comfortable in his role.

Ayden Schnarrs SS / OF / Cosby, VA / 2024

Schnarrs stood out two years ago at the Junior Future Games and continues to expand on his skillset. Playing second for Cosby, he showed really smooth quick actions at second base. Works well around the bag, quick clean exchange, and some carry on throws. At the plate it is a level path swing with line drive tendencies. Contact bat with doubles power. Above average runner and turned out a 4.28 home to first on a bunt.

Brayden Simpson SS / OF / Cosby, VA / 2022

Simpson continues to elevate his game. He is a strong 6-foot-1, 180-pound athlete that is versatile and affects the game in a variety of ways. Defensively he has plenty of arm to stay on the left side of the infield and the footspeed and athleticism to play any spot in the outfield. Regardless, long term at the next level he will find his way onto the field because of the offense. Toe tap load to stride, hands load slightly down, and shows high end bat speed through contact. Solid bat to ball skills and it simply comes off different with carry to all parts, especially gap to gap. Thought he had one of the better all around weeks for Cosby and for the tournament in general.

Brooks Simpson OF / LHP / Cosby, VA / 2024

After making his way onto the varsity stage not long ago, it did not take long for the 5-foot-10, 160-pound athlete to make his presence known. Simpson had some big at bats on Tuesday for Cosby in a tight game. In his first at bat he hit a go ahead double to right center field and followed it up in the third inning with a two strike single to right center field. It is a square stance, simple stride, and short path to contact. The barrel stays in the zone through extension and gives him some ability to adjust to offspeed.

Seth Truesdale C / OF / Cosby, VA / 2024

Compact 5-foot-10, 180-pound frame. Has leaned up in the upper body and still possesses a strong lower half. Truesdale is an offense first player that has big juice in the swing, especially to the pullside. Leg lift to load, hands load in rhythm, and level path to contact. Natural loft built in and has above average bat speed. Had a couple of big hits on Tuesday in their extra inning win, none bigger than the walk-off in the eight inning to send Cosby to a 2-1 record for the tournament.
