Simpson is 5-8 with an athletic frame that has plenty of projection left to it. He hits from the left side from a slightly closed balanced athletic stance, low leg kick stride on line, short load back. Hips rotate completely with some violence and he maintains good lower half balance. Hands stay inside, short and quick to the ball, slightly uphill line drive swing path with strength at contact and extension up through the ball, showed a pull approach with some gap power present that way, exit velocity was 82. In the outfield, gets body behind the ball and fields through it with above average hands, quick clean exchange, throws from a high three-quarters arm slot, short free arm action, position velocity was 75. Ran a 4.21 home to first. On the mound, he throws from a higher three-quarters arm slot, breaks long before tightening to a short quick arm action with some effort to his delivery. Shoulders are uphill and closed, lands on line with an athletic finish. Fastball was 69-72, touching 73, with sinking action and a bit of late armside run to it. Curveball was 61-63 with good armspeed and big gradual 1/7 break to it. Change-up was 69-70 good armspeed and fade.
