In early August, PBR VA/DC hosted the Top Prospect Games II at Virginia Tech University. Over 30 players from multiple classes and all corners of Virginia took part in the event, and we continue our analysis of those players today with the outfielders.

 

 

Samuel Aquilino OF / C / First Colonial , VA / 2021 Aquilino is 5-9 with an athletic frame that has some projection left to it. He hits from the left side from an open athletic stance, low leg kick stride closed, loads back. Hips rotate completely and he maintains some lower half balance after his stride foot lands. Takes hands straight to ball, some strength at contact. Slightly uphill swing path, showed a pull approach with some natural loft, exit velocity was 81. In the outfield, gets behind ball and plays through it, fielding with average hands. Quick clean exchange, throws from a high three-quarters arm slot with a free arm action, outfield velocity was 82.

 

Zachary Barco OF / 1B / Cosby , VA / 2021 Barco is 6-0 with an athletic frame that has some projection left to it. He hits from the ride side from a wide balanced athletic stance, low leg kick stride on line, short load back. Hips rotate completely with some violence and he maintains some lower half balance. Stays inside ball and is quick to contact, some strength at contact and a bit of whip to his bat. Slightly uphill swing path, showed a pull approach with natural loft and some power present with potential for more, exit velocity was 88. In the outfield, gets behind ball and plays through it, fielding with average hands. Clean exchange, throws from a high three-quarters arm slot with a free arm action, outfield velocity was 77. Showed versatility taking balls in the infield, where his velocity was 74. Ran a 7.47 60 yard dash.

 

Noah Canterbury OF / LHP / Buffalo Gap, VA / 2021 Canterbury is 6-0 with a lankier athletic frame that has plenty of projection left to it. He hits from the left side from an upright relaxed stance, low leg kick stride on line, short load back, quiet set-up. Hips rotate completely with some violence and he maintains good lower half balance. Stays inside ball and is short and quick to contact, some strength at contact. Uphill swing path, showed a pull approach with natural loft and some power present with potential for more, exit velocity was 88. In the outfield, gets behind ball and plays through it, fielding with above average hands. Clean exchange, throws from a high three-quarters arm slot with a loose arm action, outfield velocity was 85. Showed some accuracy on his throws.

 

Jalen Greenidge OF / 1B / Monacan, VA / 2022 Greenridge is 5-11 with a lankier athletic frame that has plenty of projection left to it. He hits from the right side from an upright relaxed slightly open stance, strides on line, loads back to a slight wrap. Hips rotate completely and he maintains some lower half balance. Stays inside ball and has some strength at contact. Slightly uphill swing path, showed a good approach working gap to gap, line drive swing with some natural loft, exit velocity was 82. In the outfield, gets behind ball and plays through it, fielding with above average hands. Clean exchange, throws from a high three-quarters arm slot with a short free arm action, outfield velocity was 78. Ran a 7.39 60 yard dash.

 

Luis Hernandez OF / RHP / Battlefield , VA / 2021 Hernandez is 5-10 with a lankier athletic frame that has plenty of projection left to it. He hits from the right side from a wide balanced slightly open stance, short leg kick stride on line, short load back. Hips rotate with some violence and he maintains good lower half balance. Short to the ball, stays inside ball and has some strength at contact. Slightly uphill swing path, showed a good approach working primarily gap to gap, line drive swing, exit velocity was 78. In the outfield, gets behind ball and plays through it, fielding with above average hands. Quick clean exchange, throws from a high three-quarters arm slot with a short free arm action, outfield velocity was 80. Ran a 7.04 60 yard dash.

 

Riley Hill OF / 2B / Franklin County, VA / 2022 Hill is 5-3 with an athletic frame that has plenty of projection left to it. He hits from the right side from a balanced slightly open stance, leg kick stride on line, loads back and wraps bat. Hips rotate with some violence and he maintains good lower half balance. Short and quick to the ball, stays inside ball and has a strong contact point. Slightly uphill swing path, showed a pull approach with natural loft, exit velocity was 74. In the outfield, velocity was 81. Showed versatility taking balls in the infield where his velocity was 76.

 

Bryce Jones OF / OF / Cape Henry Collegiate , VA / 2021 Jones is 6-0 with a lanky frame that has a lot of projection left to it. He hits from the left side from a balanced athletic stance, short stride on line, minimal load back. Hips rotate completely with some violence and he maintains some lower half balance. Short and quick to the ball, stays inside ball and has some batspeed. Level line drive swing, showed a good approach working primarily gap to gap, swing has natural loft to his pull side, exit velocity was 85. In the outfield, gets behind ball, fields with average hands. Quick clean exchange, throws from a high three-quarters arm slot with a short loose arm action, outfield velocity was 85. Ran a 7.02 60 yard dash.

 

Aidan Pinto OF / Ocean Lakes, VA / 2021 Pinto is 6-1 with a lankier athletic frame that has plenty of projection left to it. He hits from the right side from a balanced athletic stance, short leg kick stride on line, short load back. Hips rotate completely with some violence and he maintains good lower half balance. Quick to the ball, stays inside ball and has some batspeed and strength at contact point. Uphill swing path, showed a pull preference with the ability to work gap to gap, swing has natural loft built in and some power potential, exit velocity was 85. In the outfield, gets behind ball and plays through it, fields with above average hands. Clean exchange, throws from a three-quarters arm slot with a short loose arm action, outfield velocity was 82. Ran a 6.74 60 yard dash.

 

Kyle Rucker OF / RHP / Franklin County , VA / 2021 Rucker is 5-9 with a lankier athletic frame that has plenty of projection left to it. He hits from the right side from a relaxed upright slightly open stance, strides on line, short load back. Hips rotate completely and he maintains some lower half balance. Short to the ball and stays inside. Level line drive swing, showed a good approach working gap to gap, exit velocity was 81. In the outfield, gets behind ball and plays through it, fields with average hands. Clean exchange, throws from a low three-quarters arm slot with a free arm action, outfield velocity was 74.

 

Jordan Tyler OF / RHP / Grassfield , VA / 2022 Tyler is 6-3 with a lanky frame that has a lot of projection left to it. He hits from the right side from a relaxed upright balanced stance, low leg kick stride on line, loads back to a wrap. Hips rotate completely with some violence and he maintains some lower half balance. Quick to the ball and stays inside, some extension through contact. Uphill swing path, showed a good approach working gap to gap, swing has loft built in and some carry in the gaps. In the outfield, gets behind ball and plays through it, fields with average hands. Clean exchange, throws from a high three-quarters arm slot with a loose arm action, outfield velocity was 82.
