This week, Prep Baseball Report is hosting the Junior Future Games alongside the Future Games, with both events taking place at LakePoint in Cartersville, Georgia. Like the Future Games, teams represent a region, with Team Mid-Atlantic being made up of players from Maryland, Delaware, DC, and Virginia.

Junior Future Games teams play in a four game pool play tournament, with the pool leaders advancing to a Championship round on Sunday. 2019 is the first year that Team Mid-Atlantic has teams in the Junior Future Games field, with a 14U team and a 13U team competing.

See a recap of "Championship Sunday" action for the 13U team plus some notes from Team Mid-Atlantic players who had strong days:

13U Team Mid-Atlantic

In the semi-final game Sunday morning the 8-seeded Team Mid-Atlantic took on 4-seeded Team Indiana. Mid-Atlantic jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the top of the third on a Justin Gunter 2-RBI double.

Indiana responded with three runs in the bottom of the fifth to take the lead, but Team Mid-Atlantic would answer right back in the top of the sixth with three of their own making it a 5-3 game.

The back and forth affair continued in the bottom of the sixth, as Indiana scored two and tied the game heading to the top of the seventh. Back to back singles from Matthew McGovern and Justin Gunter would put runners at first and second for Team Mid-Atlantic. Following a 6-3 fielder's choice by Jack Wells, Indiana elected to intentionally walk Lucas Smith loading the bases with one out. Carter Blankenship singled to give Mid-Atlantic a one run lead.

With the bases still loaded Will Kloiber would be hit by a pitch to bring home another and later that inning Jackson Marvel singled to center driving in two and the third run scored on an error.

Jack Wells came on in relief in the seventh to close it out with a scoreless inning of work sending Team Mid-Atlantic to the championship game with a 10-5 win over Team Indiana.

Matt Sibinaller got the start and worked five innings, allowing three runs, and struck out two. Sibinaller filled up the strike zone and limited the output of a potent Team Indiana offense.

In the championship game Team Mid-Atlantic would take on Team Ohio for the 13U Junior Future Games title. Mid-Atlantic would struggle to score runs versus a strong Team Ohio pitching staff, mustering only three hits. Team Ohio would score five runs in the first inning on one hit. Jackson Marvel came on in the second inning and provided a solid two innings of work and struck out two along the way. Team Ohio extended their lead making it 8-0. Lucas Smith would pitch the fourth inning and strike out two. Team Mid-Atlantic would drop the championship game by a score of 8-0 to Team Ohio.
