Wells is 6-0 with a lankier athletic frame that has plenty of projection left to it. He hits from the right side from a slightly open balanced athletic stance, low leg kick stride on line, smooth load back to a wrap. Hips rotate completely with some violence and he maintains some lower half balance. Hands stay inside, short to the ball, uphill swing path with strength at contact and extension through the ball, showed a good approach using the whole field, has natural loft in his swing with some gap power present and more pop in the tank, exit velocity was 84. In the infield, rounds the ball and fields with a wider base and average hands, works through the ball to a clean exchange, throws from a low three-quarters arm slot, short loose arm action, position velocity was 79. Ran a 4.16 home to first. On the mound, he throws from a three-quarters arm slot, long loose quick arm action with normal effort to his delivery. Drop and drive delivery, shoulders are level and closed, lands closed with a fall off finish with some recoil. Fastball was 77-79, touching 80, with some boring action to armside. Slider was 68-69 with good armspeed and gradual 10/4 break to it, pitch has some shape and a chance to tighten into a good pitch. Change-up was 72-73 with good armspeed and hard armside run to it.

On the mound, he throws from a low three-quarters arm slot, shorter free arm action and some effort to his delivery. Drop and drive delivery, shoulders are level and closed, slightly open with an athletic finish. Fastball was 72-76, with some late hard armside run and some late sink. Curveball was 67-69 with good armspeed and sharp downer 11/5 break to it. Showed a change-up in warm-ups with good armspeed and some fade.
