Below are just a few of the participants that stood out to our staff during their workout at the Junior Future Trials II this past weekend at Rock-It Sports.

Charlie Brinkman C / OF / Fredericksburg Christian, VA / 2023

Fluid swing, hands stayed inside, extension on contact, and worked gap to gap. Solid rounds of BP with consistent barrels. Quick exchange behind the plate and had some accuracy around the bag.

Dominick Cafferillo C / OF / Charlottesville, VA / 2024

Cafferillo showed strength to the pull side, feel for the barrel, and exit velocity of 80 mph. Behind the plate displayed accuracy on throws to the bag with solid arm strength.

Ayden Evans OF / RHP / Walsingham, VA / 2024

Hand speed through the zone, loud contact, and power potential to all fields. A lot to like about the offensive upside to Evans. Above average arm strength from the outfield with a 79 mph positional velocity.

Andrew Hart OF / LHP / Cape Henry, VA / 2024

Short quick arm action on the mound and ball came out of the hand well. Up to 74 mph with the fastball and solid feel for two off speed pitches.

Lucas Hoyes RHP / OF / Manchester, VA / 2023

On the mound Hoyes was up to 80 mph with a fastball that showed some carry through the zone. Pitches with intent and flashed some feel for a breaking ball that sat 68-71 mph. Interesting arm to follow as there's plenty of projection left to the frame.

Aden Judge OF / RHP / Nansemond River , VA / 2024

Short explosive swings at the plate, feel for barrel, used the whole field, and posted 86 mph exit velocity. Has some defensive versatility and arm plays anywhere on the field. Impressive set of tools that will be fun to watch develop.

Cameron Lamb C / OF / Lee Davis , VA / 2024

Short quick swing, feel for barrel, and had some power potential to the pull side. 83 mph exit velocity. Behind the plate Lamb has consistent throws around the bag with solid arm strength at 72 mph on pops.

Braeden Loving 1B / LHP / TBD, VA / 2025

Strong physical frame standing 6-foot-1. Does not get cheated at the plate. Pull side tendency with loud hard contact. Has the bat speed and strength to be a big power threat as he continues to grow.

Micah Matthews OF / 3B / Turner Ashby, VA / 2025

Athletic frame with a ton of projection left to it. Natural loft in the swing and some power potential. Range to play all three outfield positions and solid arm strength, posting a 80 mph positional velocity.

Matthew McGovern OF / SS / Thomas Dale, VA / 2024

Athletic frame with some quick twitch actions all over the field. Short quick swing through the zone with line drive tendency. Rangy defender in the outfield with solid glove skills on approach.

Naomi Ryan LHP / 1B / TBD, VA / 2025

Fluid swing from the left side for the switch hitter. Sound fundamentals around the bag. On the mound the fastball worked to both sides of the plate with some feel for a breaking ball that had 1/7 shape.

Jayden Saunders SS / 2B / Wilson , VA / 2025

Compact athletic frame and showed a gap to gap approach at the plate. Extension on contact and had line drive tendency to the swing. Solid actions defensively with a short arm action across.

Lucas Smith 3B / RHP / Dinwiddie, VA / 2024

Projectable athletic frame with some strength in the swing. Power potential to the pull side and displayed ability to be adequate corner defender in the infield. On the mound featured a fastball that worked downhill at times and sat 72-73 mph and touched 74.

Lee Sowers SS / RHP / Deep Run , VA / 2024

Impressive all around athlete. Fluid swing from the left side at the plate. Pull side tendency and feel for the barrel. Clean defender up the middle and looked to have the ability to stick on the left side going forward. Up to 79 mph on the mound with a breaking ball that displayed depth at 68-69 mph.

Jackson Toole OF / 2B / Glen Allen, VA / 2025

Line drive approach at the plate that worked gap to gap. Solid extension on contact and consistently barreled baseballs up.

Jack Wells SS / 2B / Dinwiddie, VA / 2024

Athletic frame with projection left to it. Short path to the ball and looked best when he stayed up the middle. Posted a 82 mph exit velocity.
