On Jan. 30, the PBR Wisconsin team hosted its first event of 2022, the Kenosha Preseason ID, at Puma Baseball Academy within the Fielder’s Choice Training Facility in Kenosha, Wis. This was an open event for all high school classes (2022-25) and gave our staff an ample look at the area's top players.

If you missed us in Kenosha, check out our showcase page to see when we’re in the neighborhood next.

On Monday we published our biggest takeaways and highlights from Sunday’s showcase within our Quick Hits story. Today, we’ll dive right into the statistical side of things, analyzing Sunday’s top performers from several different statistical categories. Throughout the rest of this week, we’ll be diving deeper into all of the data we collected, too, with the help of our Blast Motion and TrackMan devices.

TOP HOME-TO-FIRST TIMES

Sitting atop of the best home-to-first times was Leo Koenig (Edgewood, 2023) who ran a blazing 3.93 time, one of the event’s most impressive statistics. Following Koenig was another junior from the Badger State, OF/RHP John Perugini (St. Catherines, 2023). Who clocked in a time of 4.13, another very impressive number. Behind Perugini in the fastest home-to-first times was one of the few players from Illinois at the event, INF/LHP Aiden Niemczyk (Antioch, IL, 2023), with a time of 4.22.

MAX FASTBALL VELOCITY

Two athletes in attendance topped out 84 mph from the bump. The first was RHP Matthew Schulz (Westosha Central, 2023) who made his PBR debut. Currently, Schulz is ranked 69th in our ‘23 rankings. The second is RHP Jack Olson (Antioch, IL, 2024) who left the event as one of the biggest winners. Behind both Schulz and Olson, was one of the few seniors in attendance, RHP Christain Schaller (Eau Claire Immanuel, 2022) who topped out at 83 mph.

MAX EXIT VELOCITY

Leading this group of hitters was INF Zachary Pyles (Warren, IL, 2024) who reached a max exit velocity of 99 mph. Built at a sturdy 6-foot, 200-pound frame, Pyles showed some of the best raw power at the event as he hit the farthest ball of the event at 379 feet. A few ticks below Pyles was another Illinois prospect, the aforementioned Jack Olson. Olson showcased some true two-way potential throughout the event as supported by his stats. During his round of BP Olson connected on one at 96 mph. Below Olson was OF John Perugini (St. Catherines, 2023) who put together one of the best statistical performances of the day. During his BP round, Perugini averaged some of the highest exit velocity in the entire event and also had the second farthest hit ball at 346 feet.

MAX INFIELD VELOCITY

Another prospect from Antioch that attended the event, INF/RHP Dylan Feldkamp (2024), had the hardest throw of the day across the diamond at 82 mph. Two ticks behind Feldkamp there were two players. The first being one of the few seniors in attendance, Foster Milanowski (River Valley, 2022) and the second being Zachary Pyles.

MAX OUTFIELD VELOCITY

Just like the rest of his day Jack Olson led the way when it came to our max outfield velocity leaders. Olson again showed off his arm strength, this time from the outfield, topping out 87 mph. Right behind Olson was John Perugini, a name that is towards the top in multiple statistical categories. Perugini’s hardest throw home was recorded ay 86 mph, tops among 2023’s in attendance. One tick below Perugini was RHP/OF Sam Polyock (Badger, 2024) who showed solid arm speed for his age, topping out at 85 mph from the outfield.

MAX CATCHER VELOCITY

Behind the dish, C Mason Mitacek (Westosha Central, 2024) led the event throwing his hardest ball down to second at 74 mph. Following Mitacek, there were three prospects who all topped out 73 mph on their throws from behind the plate. The first being C Hayden Jamison (Union Grove, 2024). The next one being Leo Koenig (Edgewood, 2023) and the last one being Branden Parent (Bradford, 2023).

TOP POP TIMES

Despite not having the hardest throws from the dish, Hayden Jamison had the fastest pop times of the event. The second fastest pop times of the event were from Mason Mitacek who showed clean actions from behind the plate. The third best pop times came from Nathan Urban (Indian Trail, 2025). At this event Urban proved to be a name to follow throughout his high school career after showing advanced actions both at the plate and behind it for his age.
