On Tuesday, June 27th the PBR Illinois team hosted the Northwest Suburban Open at Wintrust Field in Schaumburg, IL. This open event was for all high school classes (2024-27), and gave our staff a chance to get a look at 50+ uncommitted prospects at the end of the summer.

RHP Nathan Moline (St. Charles East, 2026), just missed the list below but is a young arm to keep an eye on down the road. He is listed at 5-foot-10, 145-pounds and has long, loose levers with plenty of physical development to come down the road. His fastball played at 76-78 mph and he showed a mid-60’s slider, both playing with above-average spin while the slider could be a swing-and-miss offering before all is said and done. 

LHP Grant Statler (Hononegah, 2027) is another young arm to note from the event. Statler is a fluid operator with a clean, repeatable delivery and fastball that topped at 78.3 mph. One to watch in the coming years. 

RHP Braden Mann (Warren Township) is an unsigned senior to know from the event. Mann has a clean, athletic delivery and spun his 67-68 mph slider with an average of 16.7” HM and an average of 2168 with the pitch flashing late horizontal action. His fastball climbed to 82 mph and with seemingly more to come given the frame, delivery, arm action and the way he spins the baseball.
