Unsigned Senior Games Preview: Ben Carew

The Unsigned Senior Games is coming September 20 to Kapco Park on the campus of Concordia University in Mequon, WI. This event will bring several of the top uncommitted seniors from the state of Wisconsin to workout and participate in game play. Over the coming weeks, as we lead up to the event, we will preview several of the top players scheduled to be in attendance.

Scouting Report: 3/15/15- 6-foot, 170-pound, right-handed hitting shortstop with an athletic build. In the field has a long, loose arm action from a high a ¾ arm slot. Showed carry on throws with fluid footwork and flashed soft hands. Plays thru the ball with athletic actions. Threw 82 mph across the infield. At the plate hits from an upright, open stance with a short leg kick stride. Line-drive, gap-to-gap hitter with a short, level swing path and fluid rhythm. Carew shows and advanced approach at the plate with a fast bat. Showed strength thru contact with 89 mph exit velocity from a tee. Solid runner, running the 60 at 6.76.
The Skinny: Carew has since moved his skill set to the outfield this spring for Kimberly, where his speed really shows off. He is a versatile defender with athleticism to fit almost anywhere on the field, which should fit the recruiting needs of nearly every school in attendance.
