Unsigned Senior Spotlight: LHP Tyler Drezek
October 3, 2018
On Sept. 23, our staff hosted Senior Games at Kapco Park in Mequon, Wis., an invite-only showcase for the area’s top uncommitted seniors. We’ve already published the event’s Statistical Analysis, and we’ll have position-by-position breakdowns a little further down the road. Until then, check out some of the showcase’s top unsigned prospects who merit mentioning over the next couple of weeks within this spotlight.
Tyler Drezek (West Allis Central, 2019) is among the top-ranked left-handed pitchers in the state without a commitment. The strong 6-foot-3 lefty carries some good projectability with him and a clean arm producing a quality fastball that we saw for ourselves in Mequon on Sept. 23. His fastball has been up to 85 mph in the past and features hard arm-side with late life through the zone. In his pair of innings on the mound at Concordia, Drezek was battling through control issues while finding the feel for his offspeed, but managed to strike out a couple batters regardless. It’s clear that Drezek has next-level capabilities, it’s just a matter of honing his offspeed and command to the point where he can make a sizable impact in his post-prep career.
