Winter Review & Jr. Future Games Trials Analysis: Middle Infielders

The Winter Review & Junior Future Games Trials Showcase took place December 30th at Pro Performance RX in Morgantown, WV. Today we continue a series of articles analyzing the prospects in attendance beginning with a look at the Middle Infielders that participated.

Middle infielders 

Hunter Lilly, Point Pleasant, Class of 2023

12.30.18 - Defensively, the 5'6, 125 pound primary shortstop displayed confident hands and solid lateral shifting ability. A accurate 74 mph velocity across the infield was recorded. 

Offensively, the LHH starts in an athletic open stance. Had a solid round of BP and displayed the ability to consistently barrel the ball. Overall, Lilly displayed an athletic frame and advanced skill set.

Drew BaileyDrew Bailey, Bridgeport, Class of 2023

12.30.18 - Offensively, the 6-foot-1, 170-pound primary shortstop, Bailey recorded a bat exit velocity of 78 mph. He hits out of athletic stance, and showed
the ability to consistently drive the ball.

Defensively, shows confidence in his arm. Recorded a positional velocity of 68 mph across the diamond. Receives ball out front and displayed good footwork towards first base. Overall, Bailey displayed an advanced skill set.

Chase EdwardsChase Edwards, University, Class of 2023

12.30.18 - Offensively, the 5-foot-10, 140-pound primary shortstop starts in an athletic, open stance with a bent back leg. Displayed a short, quick stroke and the ball seems to jump off his bat. A 74 mph exit velocity was recorded.

Defensively, Edwards displayed soft hands along with good footwork towards his target. Delivers the ball from low 3/4 angle. A 65 mph positional velocity was recorded. 

Ryan FluhartyRyan Fluharty, North Marion, Class of 2023

12.30.18 - Offensively, Fluharty starts in an spread, athletic stance. A exit velocity of 74 mph was recorded. He displayed a balance swing and consistently found the barrel. Solid fundamental approach. 

Defensively, Fluharty displayed strong, confident hands and overall athleticism. A 65 mph positional velocity was recorded. Fluharty will be a player to follow in his class.  

Grant StrattonGrant Stratton, Spring Valley, Class of 2024

12.30.18 - Offensively, the 5-foot-8, 110-pound primary shortstop starts in an athletic stance. Displayed confidence in his hands and the ability to drive the back back through the middle. A 69 mph exit velocity was recorded.

Defensively, Stratton displayed solid footwork including a pre pitch routine, along with confidence in his footwork and soft, reliable hands. Overall, Stratton displayed an advanced skill set for his age. 

Grant ShumakerGrant Shumaker, Spring Valley, Class of 2023

12.30.18 - Offensively, the 5-foot-2, 110-pound primary second basemen starts in a slightly open, athletic stance. Displayed confidence in his hands. A 66 mph exit velocity was recorded.

Defensively, Shumaker displayed solid range and the ability to round the ball. Obvious athleticism to go along with adequate hands. A 61 mph positional velocity was recorded across the diamond.   

Maxwell MolessaMaxwell Molessa, Williamstown Class of 2024

12.30.18 - Offensively, the 5-foot-5, 120-pound primary shortstop starts in an athletic, open stance. Swing can be a little long, but he did display the ability to find the barrel and drive the baseball. A 65 mph exit velocity was recorded. 

Defensively, Molessa displayed good footwork and adequate hands.  A 60 mph positional velocity was recorded across the diamond.
