2023 RHP Anson McGorman (Utah commit) has been the best West Coast arm our staff has seen so far in Arizona. He took the mound against a good lineup of Dodgers hitters and was able to get outs, with not a ton of hard contact. The fastball sat 91-93 and was able to hit spots throughout his outing. There was a lot of fastball’s but he mixed a slider at 81-82 and a changeup at 85.
Anson is a long-levered 6-foot-2 170-pound RHP representing British Columbia at the upcoming Futures Games. On the mound Anson has a ¾ delivery with a 85-87 T88 running fastball with late life. Complimenting his FB is a sweeping CB 70-72 and a CH that needs feel, but will be a top pitch with time. Mechanically there is more reach and stride to gain to stay on top of the ball to assist with higher velos and greater break. Anson’s delivery and arm slot projects a change to a SL to achieve higher success at next level. As a 2021 with plenty of room for physical development, Anson is a D1 talent or pro to watch coming out of BC soon.
