VA/DC State Games

Burns is 6-1 with an athletic frame that has some strength present and some projection left to it. He hits from the right side from a slightly open balanced athletic stance, low leg kick stride on line, smooth load back to a slight wrap, has some rhythm. Hips rotate with violence and he maintains some lower half balance. Hands stay inside, short and quick to the ball, uphill swing path, strong at contact and extension through the ball, showed a good approach using the whole field, power present to all fields, exit velocity was 98. In the infield, good feet, rounds the ball and fields with a wider base and soft hands, works through ball to a quick clean exchange, throws from a high three-quarters arm slot, position velocity was 82. Ran a 7.17 60 yard dash.

Very compact approach at the plate with power to all fields. The set up is simple as the hands are set fairly high and the feet are slightly open. Really stays short with the barrel and the back elbow stays in the slotted position. Really finishes the swing and keeps the barrel on the ball from a tilted swing plane. The bat plays big time. Well synced swing and really uses the lower half in the swing. Does a nice job of hitting off of a firm front side. Like the actions in the dirt as he does a nice job finding the big hop and really presents the glove out in front. Athletic enough to play a few different infield positions

A young player (2022) with plenty of juice off of the bat, showed big time pop (event best 91 mph exit velo off of a tee). Really showed a balanced approach at the plate and was well connected throughout the swing. Did a nice job of getting his hands to the launch position and showed pop to all fields. Really forced the barrel through contact, creating a trampoline effect off of the barrel. At 3B, he showed very nice actions and lateral movement and feel with the glove. The arm strength is there and his throws had carry across the diamond. A really nice player, Alabama commit.
