5-foot-9, 162-pound slim frame. During batting practice, Samples had an exit velocity of 81 mph. Setup consisted of balanced stance and a compact load. Bat speed was some, and used level swing plane. Barreled up some balls throughout the round. Base hit approach. In the infield, displayed a velocity of 77 mph; has soft hands and fluid feet. Had consistent accuracy. In the 60-yard dash, his time was 7.51. On the mound, produced a fastball that came in at 79-80 mph and topped out at 81 mph; had in the zone control. Threw a 11/5 curveball (70-73) that showed late action and low in the zone control.
A solid little ball player. Not the most physical kid at the event, but flashed some tools that caught some eyes. Even stance that has a very simple load while driving many balls to the opposite field gap. 80 mph exit velo off a tee. Solid glovework and arm strength on the IF as well. On the mound, FB was 78-80 while reaching 81 a few times. CB was sharp at 66-70. Nice, clean delivery with deceptive actions. The ball comes out of his hand nice and easy. Easy actions on the mound.
Brody Samples (2022, RHP/SS, Sardis) 5’9 145 lbs- 7.10.18- At SS, he showed an IF velo of 74 mph and average glove work with adequate feet. His 60 time was 7.60 and his exit velo was 77 while showing the ability to stay through the zone.
