Wheeler, an Oregon State recruit, took some of the best at-bats of any player at the event, and was unafraid going against some of the top arms that toed the rubber. A wiry, 5-foot-11, 175-pound left-handed hitter, he hung in on some vicious left-handed arms, and found barrels, along with multiple hits for the Reds squad. There is plenty of energy to the athletic outfielder’s game, and he refused to give in, even after falling behind in counts.

2024 OF Hustyn Wheeler (Sandra Day O’Connor)- Oregon State commit, 5-foot-11, 171-pounds, large athletic build, proportional strength & athleticism, some quick twitch, has gained some strength since August. Left-handed hitter, advanced line-drive approach with top of the order potential, used mid-pull side of the field with barrel awareness. Athletic base, open stance, uses leg lift to shift weight to backside, back knee moves backwards before internally rotating, land square. Loads hands back into a vertical barrel. Short level swing with some present bat speed, gets on plane, turns barrel early at times, good pop for age, 91.31mph exit velocity via Trackman. Confident actions in the OF, quick athletic footwork, clears body to create lanes & angles. Ran a 7.14 60-yard dash on a slow track. Fields ball on side using a step behind to create direction to target, above average arm for age at 79mph, spotty accuracy on the day that will improve as keeps feet underneath him. Should continue to be a name we hear in future.
