A physical player, Meleg, passes the eye test. Showed well in BP, with glimpses of his power potential, barreling a few balls hard in the gap. Will benefit from getting a bit more athletic in the box and ironing out his moves but showed strength. On defence, Meleg projects as a corner infielder, showing good arm strength at 80mph across the diamond, has clean footwork and can throw from different arm slots. Footspeed needs to improve if he wants to stay up the middle, but has good hands and the arm required to play on the infield.
As a pitcher, Meleg moves well on the mound. A funky delivery with a high leg lift followed by him collapsing into his rear leg and driving forward, blocking his lead leg at foot strike and releasing from a high ¾ slot, Meleg finds a way to make it all work. Fastball ranged from 78-82. Curveball had good movement to it, a downward break to it and thrown with intent. Changeup was also good, kept down in the zone with late-life to it, and pitched at a good velocity, ranging around 73-74. Lots to like about Meleg, and his size hints at more to come.
