3-15-17
6-1, 190 pounds. Comes from modified stretch/windup delivery which is more effortless then before. High 3/4 arm slot. Fastball was consistently 88 mph touching 89 on a few occassions. Arm is quick and loose and works well with lower half. Davis attacked hitters with his fastball mixing in a slider that lived from 75-76 mph with late tilt. Curve was 69-70 mph with late break. Threw change on a few occasions that was also 75 mph. Started off a little slow then settled in keeping Ralston in the game. In 4 innings walked 2 and struck out 4.

6-1, 190 pounds. Davis mechanics are really cleaned up since the first time we saw him over a year ago. Comes from modified stretch/windup delivery which is more effortless then before. High 3/4 arm slot. Fastball was consistently 90-91 but played faster. Arm is quick and loose and works well with lower half. Change up came in at same fastball arm speed at 82-83 mph with sink. Curve was sharp with late break at 83 mph. Potential draft prospect.
8-16-16
6-0, 175 pounds, the Arizona State commit was impressive in 3 innings of no-hit work against Cherokee Trail. Fastball was consistently 88 mph, and had a wipeout slider coming in at 77 with good depth. What we came away impressed with was how much he has cleaned up his motion to make it less effortless. Arm works real well and is quick. Square to the plate and pounded the strike zone. To see video Click Here
2-28-16
A 6-foot-0, 175 pound right hand pitcher who works quickly and is max effort on each pitch. A quick motion and balance are followed by good lower leg drive to the plate. He releases from a high ¾ arm slot and does a nice job of keeping his arm speed up on all three pitches. Delivery lands in-line with the plate and follow through carries him across his body. Fastball touched 88 with good movement. He also added a 79 MPH slider with sharp break and an 84 MPH cutter that ran in on the hands.

Drake Davis, RHP, Ralston Valley, 2017
6-foot, 175 pounds. First time I have seen Davis and we came away impressed. He is as aggressive as a pitcher I have seen. Davis has a herky jerky motion which can be intimidating to a hitter, but he will probably have to tone down a bit not to exert too much energy, but he comes at you with 88 mph fastballs and he is all arms and legs. Despite everything going on in the delivery, Davis managed to fill up the strike zone. Aside from his fastball, Davis threw his changeup aggressively and for strikes.
2/29/20: A Colorado native and Arizona State transfer, Davis is a 6-foot-1, 205-pound red-shirt sophomore. He started Sunday’s finale for the Gophers against NC State. His fastball sat 90-93 mph with some arm side life and he flashed both an average 80-82 mph slider, missing some bats with his better ones, and a low-80s changeup with arm side dive. Davis seemed to tire in the third inning, showing looser command in the zone, and was eventually knocked out after 3.2 IP, allowing three runs on six hits, walking three and striking out six.
