2/16/16 - Florida St recruit. 6-foot-2, 225 pound right hander with a big thick loose body that he will need to maintain with age. Loose arm at a high ¾ arm slot. Wrist wrap in back. Hides ball. Lands in line. Upright finish. Occasionally pulls off line. Fastball was 85-88 mph with good life. Cuts arm off out front and lacks good extension. Curveball is a big ¾ breaker with good rotation at 72-74 mph. Change up has some fade to it at 76-78 mph. Worked behind in counts a lot. I’ve seen him with better stuff. Went 3 1/3 inn, 6 hits, 5 runs, 2 Ks, 3 BB.

Comments
Very thick wide mature body with thick strong hips and thighs. Loose live arm at a 3/4 to low 3/4 slot. Arm arc is a bit short in back and hides ball. Lands slightly across the body with an upright finish. Fast ball has some life at 84-87 mph. Struggled to command it. Occasionally worked under the ball and left too many up in zone. Curve ball was 69-71 mph with good 3/4 rotation and occasional depth, but a bit soft and loopy. Still an avg ML pitch. Change up was 71-72 mph with some fade to it, similar to his fast ball. Overall wasn't even close to what I saw last Fall, which was 2 plus ML pitches with a fast ball at 90-93 mph and a plus breaking ball. Will need to get back up there to stay at our number 1 ranking.
