2/17/18- Florida recruit. Luethje matched up pitch for pitch with Stewart on the evening. While the velocity wasn’t quite there, sitting mostly 87-89 mph, you can see the potential. He has steep shoulders and a frame that projects. Shows a loose easy arm action from a high 3/4 slot. He could get more from the lower half, but when extended, he showed a tight, biting slider at 74-77 mph. Will be one to follow in the spring to see how he continues to progress.
04/26/17- Florida recruit. David Luethje would struggle a bit against the talented Merritt Island team, but the big, projectable right-hander showed his potential. A bit methodical delivery, he tends to lose his lower half, but with minimal effort he worked mostly 88-89 mph topping out at 91 mph with his fastball. He flashed quality shape with a slider at 76 mph and a feel for a changeup at times at 82 mph.
12/7/15- Committed to Florida.
9/15/15- Leuthje is one of the top arms in the 2018 class and will continue to draw attention as he continues to develop. FB sits 86-89 and has been up to 90mph w/ run. Throws an above average CB and CH for strikes. Hits his spots. Repeats well, displays loose arm action, and attacks batters. Someone to keep an eye on.
