2/25/16- Ruth looks to have filled out and gained some strength since we last saw him. The arm slot is still over-the-top, but a bit lower then before and much more fluid. The fastball came out of the hand extremely well sitting 94-96 mph the first inning while also showing a plus slider at 84-85 mph and a changeup at 87 mph. The velocity dropped off a bit in the third and fourth to 88-91 mph. The arm is extremely quick and the slider has turned into a plus pitch with sharp, late action.

7/29/16- Committed to the University of Florida.

6/27/16-  South Carolina commit. The 6-foot-3, 190-pounder was 88-91 mph with his fastball showing a very quick arm. Ruth also showed an 80-81 mph slider and a 80 mph changeup. Ruth is athletic and projectable, and will continue to trend upward with velocity as he fills out.

9/9/15- Committed to University of South Carolina

6/14/15- 6-foot-2 165 pounds with a lean, athletic, and projectable body. At the plate he has a small leg kick and his swing is a little long but the ball jumps off his bat when he squares it up. On the mound everything is in line, he has an over the top arm slot, and a quick windup. 84-86 mph FB. 73-75 mph SL. 70 mph CHG.

10-28-2018Also of note, redshirt freshman Hunter Ruth made his way back to the mound after being out last year with an injury, and was as impressive as he was in high school. Featuring less effort, letting his extremely quick arm work, he was 90-94 mph with life. He also showed a curveball at 82-86 mph with depth and a changeup at 83 mph. (Freeman)
