9/25/21

6-foot-2, 175-pound lean athletic frame. Solid athletic in the box, the right-handed hitter clocked an exit velocity of 91 mph. (64.34 mph bat speed average). (18.58 mph hand speed average). Began in a balanced crouched stance with a small compact load, then used a quick controlled stride. Bat speed was quick, used a short flat swing plane and good extension on his finish. Found multiple barrels with some loud contact. Line drive gap to gap approach. Above average in the infield, had a live arm with throws that topped out at 85 mph; showed next level soft hands, smooth rhythmic feet, and a clean natural exchange. Fielded the ball out front with athletic movement laterally. Showed consistent accuracy to the base with a loose arm action and a slot. Clocked a 60 time of 7.12 at the event. Solid on the mound, showed good arm speed with a arm angle and a long arm action. Drop-and-drive type pitcher and shows easy effort. Balance point is tall with an even shoulders during delivery. Lands square with a falling off finish. Produced a fastball that came in at 82-85 mph and topped out at 86 mph; has command around the zone and running action with heavy movement. (Max spin 2355; Avg 2107). Has fading action and in the zone command on his sharp changeup (76-78). Throws a tight slider (74-77) that shows slurvey action and down in the zone command. Florida Gulf Coast Commit, 6-foot-1, 160-pound lean proportional frame. Athletic during batting practice, the right-handed hitter's best exit velocity was 93 mph. Starts in a balanced crouched stance with a compact small load, then uses a quick stride. Has quick bat speed, short flat swing plane and good extension on his finish. Found lots of barrels with loud contact. Aggressive approach. Advanced in the infield, had a live arm with throws that topped out at 86 mph; has a packing natural exchange, soft consistent hands, and smooth rhythmic feet. Fields the ball out front, movements laterally were athletic. From a slot, showed consistent accuracy to the base with a loose arm action. Showed his athleticism during the event with a sub-seven 60 time of 6.96.

6/15/19

Long, wiry shortstop who has continued to fill out. Moves with athleticism at short and works with confidence and hands are above average. High offensively ceiling as well.

8/5/18 - Lean athletic projectable framed Player. In his inning of work he showed a clean, effortless delivery from a natural 3/4 slot. The fastball sat at 79-80 touching 81 and although it’s fairly straight he worked down consistently with good extension at release. Flashed a few sliders at 72-73, the pitch lacked depth, but did have some short late horizontal bite. Smith has some intriguing tools and With continued reps I expect his best day are still ahead of him.

8/4/18 - Shows athletic actions in the middle with an above average arm across the diamond at 82 mph (which tied for the team lead). At the plate, he shows a level path through the zone with quick hands and present bat speed. Drove a ball to the outfield for an RBI double in the second game.
