Cape Cod: Passed over in the 2022 draft as a sophomore-eligible, the talented, multi-positional athlete was a late arrival to the Cape, beginning his season on July 12. There is no doubt about his high-level run, throw and defensive tools. All presently grade out as above average to better, or project to be in the future. In 18 games the 6-foot-3, 205-pound Horvath batted .250 while slugging .514. His pop is generated mostly by very strong hands, as his approach has very little weight transfer. He also takes many defensive-type swings, especially against spin. His strikeout rate is a growing concern, fanning 20 times in 77 plate appearances (26%). However, it did come with some damage as he homered six times, placing him 2nd in the Cape this summer. Horvath currently carries a power over hit offensive profile and looked comfortable on defense, playing mostly center field for Bourne.

2022 MLB Draft: A blue-chip recruit out of IMG Academy, Horvath got off to a very slow start as a freshman in 2021 and found himself on the bench for a good chunk of the season. However, he returned to the lineup down the stretch and became one of UNC's best players. He then blossomed in the Northwoods League last summer and returned this past fall stronger, faster and better all-around. The third baseman has ample tools with plus speed and power at the top, and he's also a strong defender at the hot corner with above average arm strength. With a .268 batting average, 18 home runs, 57 strikeouts vs 45 walks and a 19% strikeout rate, he currently carries a power over hit offensive profile, but a refined approach in the batter's box could quickly change that label. For Horvath it's about turning his tools and athleticism into performance. A draft-eligible sophomore, Horvath may be better off returning to Chapel Hill for his junior year, refining his approach and pushing himself into Day One for 2023.
