Uncommitted. 5-foot-8, 175 pounds. Two phrases come to mind when watching Brown ball out. “Lightning in a Bottle” and “Ball of Muscle.” Other good terms to describe him? High energy, scrappy, determined, smart. To be able to switch hit at a consistent level not only requires very good athleticism & muscle memory, but incredible body control and balance. These are all traits brown possesses, and he also has plenty of fast twitch fibers to go with them. What might be my favorite characteristic about Brown is his fiery competitiveness. He expects to get a hit every AB, and he will never give in regardless of the talent he is facing on the mound. It’s the fight in him that truly separates him as a player. Offensively, his bat 2 ball skills are definitely a separator. He didn’t strike out once in the 2 games I saw, and always made consistent contact. His swing mechanics are very compact and repeatable with very good rhythm. His swing from both sides is exceptionally connected (linearly) and a big reason his hands pack a real punch. Not only does the ball jump off his bat, but his hands stay inside the ball very well due to his efficient swing path and quick hands. This allows him to see the ball deeper than most, and even if he gets beat, Brown is in a good position to inside out a single over the infield. He can turn 1B’s into 2B’s, and 2B’s into 3B’s with his plus speed. I didn’t get too much of a look at him as a defender, but he seems to be very instinctive in the OF with good closing speed. That will be a focus for me on him this summer.

Uncommitted. Strong 5-7, 175-pound frame, switch hitting utility player. At the plate, minimizes his strike zone with flex in his knees, removes any unnecessary movement as he plants his front foot well before the pitch is thrown, helps him stay on plane throughout his swing with a level and balanced point of attack and strong hands. Would like to see him stay on pitches a little longer, may have a tendency to open up and try to yank balls but could really do damage as a line drive hitter with his level swing path and an all fields approach. Max EV at 92mph at a previous PBR event, consistent ballplayer all around.

Positional Profile: C/OF Body: 5-7, 175-pounds. Athletic skill set, lean frame. Hits: SH. Slightly open stance, relaxed load in the swing from both sides. Plenty of pull-side strength from the left side. Similar approach from the right side. Power: 92 max exit velocity, averaged 78 MPH. 316' max distance. Arm: RH. C-74 mph. Strong arm. Defense: 2.12-2.21 pop times. Solid actions behind the plate, showing nice hip flexibility. Run: 7.27 runner in the 60. Vizual Edge: 73.69 Edge Score
