South Florida commit. The right-hander squared off against Landmark’s cross-town rivals and produced a quality showing on both sides of the ball. Physical, athletic 6-foot-4, 193-pound frame with real arm speed and sky-high projection. Casson kept the War Eagles in it as he competed across 4.0 IP. Longer operation and leverages the frame extremely well to create excellent extension down the mound. Fastball lived 91-93 (T94) with life out of the hand and jumped on hitters. Sinker sat 89-92 with present feel to land on the inner half to RHH. Swing-and-miss on the slider at 77-81 with late-bite and some feel to manipulate shape. Changeup mixed in at 83-86 as well. At the plate, Casson came through with a big backside knock in the first inning as well. Ability to stay balanced with strength in the hands stands out in an all-fields approach. Casson will hold true two-way impact this Spring and could be a name to monitor come July.
