GA Preseason All-State
Body: 5-11, 230-pounds. Strong, sturdy frame.
Hit: LHH. Tall, open setup, hands cock with a barrel wrap on load, short stride, good balance. Swing path is short to the zone, uphill through, takes a power/pull approach, looks to elevate and do damage.
Power: 96.00 mph exit velocity from the tee. Big power potential.
Arm: LH. INF - 80.00 mph. OF - 84 mph. Arm action is long to a high 3/4 slot, accurate throws, some carry.
Defense: Has feel around the bag at first, good glove hand, clean on exchanges. Plays through in the outfield, fluid footwork, clean transfers.
Run: 7.19 runner in the 60.
Underclass Games
Georgia State commit. 5-foot-11, 210-pound left-handed pitcher, physical build, broad frame, strength throughout. Arm plays long on the back-side with a full arm swing, some pie action, ¾ slot, above average arm speed. Tall and fall delivery, works on-line, lands toe-closed, finishes upright and crossing over. Fastball sat 85-86, touched 87, sinking action, locates fastball to all areas of the zone, gets more sink when low in the zone, can also bring it up in the zone for swing and misses. Curveball, 1/7 shape, big breaker, depth, potential swing and miss pitch.
We have had a chance to see Nguyen several times over the summer. He is a strong bodied kid with good feel for the zone. He was up to 83 at the Deep South, but we have seen the LHP up to as high as (86). Nguyen has always shown the ability to spin and land his breaking ball. He has good shape to the pitch and it plays an excellent change of pace, as well as a swing and miss pitch out of the zone. Good looking young left-handed arm.
