Preseason All-State: Pitcher Analysis

Phil Kerber
Georgia Scouting Director

PBR Georgia hosted its second annual Preseason All-State event at LakePoint Sports this Saturday, January 9th. The event brought together just over 30 of the top prospects in the state's class of 2021 and 2022. Despite frigid temps, with the real feel temperature hovering around 28-30 degree, prospects competed in a pro-style workout.

We began the event analysis with our initial thoughts and a statistical analysis. Today, we will dive into the pitcher reports.

This group is led by the powerful Georgia commit RHP DJ Radtke (Blessed Trinity, 2021). Radtke has a strong, projectable 6-foot-4, 200-pound frame and the stuff to go along with it. Despite the temperatures, he sat 87-90 with a heavy fastball and a power sinker. Ratke’s out-pitch is a swing and miss slider that has sharp action and late dive.

Coming in behind Radtke is Georgia State commit RHP Jeremiah Newman (Mays, 2021). Newman zipped his fastball in up to 89 mph, showing some riding life. He showed good feel for a four pitch arsenal, including a tight cutter and a swing and miss breaking ball. Uncommitted RHP Nathan Dvorsky (Lambert, 2022) rounds out the top-3. Dvorsky has quickly been on the rise over the recent months and continues to trend upwards with his near 2500 rpm curveball and 90 mph fastball.

Keep reading to see who else made the top-5, plus reports on the rest of the arms in attendance listed in alphabetical order.
