Uncommitted. 5-foot-11, 155-pound right-handed pitcher, athletic frame, lean build with room to add strength. Arm works short and clean on the back-side, hides the ball well, comes out of a low ¾ slot. Drop and drive delivery, works on-line landing square. Fastball sat 83-85 early on. Slider, 11/5 shape, flashed depth, 70-72. Offered up a fading changeup at 74-77.
10/04/19
Uncommitted arm with high upside. 5-foot-11, 155 pounds. Athletic on the mound. ¾ slot that has a flat arm motion. Uses legs well to drive towards plate. Fastball came out well with run at 85 mph; up a tick from last month. Changeup has drop and sink; 74-75. Smooth and easy player to watch.
9/25/19
Valentine is a medium framed right-hander from Gainesville High School where he leads the rotation. He has been a mainstay on the mound for the Ozone Warriors over summer taking on some of the states power programs, and shows extreme strike thrower qualities. He is athletic with a fast arm, and a repeatable delivery. Valentine can run his fastball up into the mid-80's with sink and the ability to gain more velocity with added strength and maturity. Valentine has quality feel for his change-up and will be a pitch he locates well at the next level. Valentine's breaking ball is more of change of pace than a true out-pitch, but is plenty to keep hitters off balance and compliments his fastball well. Valentine has the potential to be a quality competitor with some upside and offer immediate dependability as a strike thrower at the next level.
