6/12/18: 6’6 lanky 2019 RHP, pitches from high ¾ slot. Arm action is long and arm speed is average. Tempo is slow and at times choppy to the plate. Tall at balance point but then drop and drives to plate. Some stiffness in delivery and arm stroke as well. Could locate FB in lower half of zone at 82-83 T84. Also mixed in SL shape BB at 74-76 that showed shape and late sweeping action in the zone.

 
2/17/18:  6-foot-6, 180 pound pitcher creates downhill plane with a fastball showing late sink at 80-81.  Commands his arm side well.  Average balance and tempo in a tall to fall delivery.  Short arm swing, looks cleaner than previous showcases.  Breaking ball has 10/4 shape with some late tilt.  Needs to fill in his frame still, but more velocity to come if it happens.

 
6/13/17:  6-foot-5, 185 pound right-hander showcased a bump in velocity with the same late sink on the fastball.  Sat 80-82 touching 83 in the strike zone.  Good down angle from a 3/4 slot.  Stab in arm swing.  Front leg lacks extension Breaking ball has some depth at 71-74 in a 10/4 shape.  Projectable frame with more velocity expected to come.

2/25/17:   The lanky 6-foot-5, 185 pound pitcher has a tall to fall delivery with sink on a 77-79mph fastball.  Fastball has good command to his arm side, getting late run and good tilt.  Slight stab in arm swing before getting to a 3/4 slot.  Rotates around his front leg.  More velocity in his lower half if continues to improve.  Breaking ball has 10/4 shape with gradual depth to it.  Change-up has arm side run at 72-74.  Follow in 2019 class.

9/24/16: The 6-foot-4 185 pound right-handed pitcher showcased the ability to change speeds and command both sides of the plate with a lanky, projectable frame.  Delivery has rhythm with a short, loose arm action and high-¾ slot.  Fastball sat 77-80, touching 82 with slight run.  Breaking ball sat 67-69 with late turn and 10/4 shape.  Change-up has depth and sat 72-74.  Offensively, Spalding hits from a tall setup with short stride and average balance.  Lower half gets partially involved with the swing.  Bat speed is average.  Exit velocity topped at 78mph.  Defensively, hands are above average with a clean transfer.  Footwork is flat.  Throws topped at 74mph across the infield.

9/20/15: 6-foot-2, 180 pounder throws from a high ¾ slot with average arm speed.  Arm action is long.  Shows some effort and some rhythm in the delivery.  Level shoulders, falls off towards 3B.  Fastball is straight at 68-70.  Breaking ball has a 10/4 shape with gradual break at 58-61.  Slows the arm down when throwing the changeup.
