Showed a loose, quick arm on Day one, running his fastball up to 89. Early on, he hung in the 86-88 mph range, but as the game went on, his velo dropped down to 83-85, and even more so from the stretch. In his later innings he was able to flash a couple 86’s and 87’s, but couldn’t quite sustain it. Warren starts off closed, and lands that way as well, throwing across his body, which gave him some deception on his fastball. He’s very max effort, which is a huge contributor to his inability to keep up his velocity.
4/24/18: Long and lanky righty who worked out of the pen for Crawfordsville. Pitched strictly out of the stretch from 3/4 arm slot with a whippy, quick arm action. Comes set with hands high at head level and starts his delivery from that placement. Has a slight stab action in the back, but arm does not look to drag. Creates good angle to the plate from that 3/4 arm slot. FB was 82-84 and he commanded it well in the zone. Looks to have more velo in the tank. Flashed a breaking ball that was a little bit loopy but showed some potential at 68-69. Interesting '20 arm to follow.
2/28/16: 5-foot-7, 152 pound 8th grader pitches from a long ¾ arm action. Above average arm speed. Good direction to the plate. Drop and drive type delivery, inward turn. Fastball was 73-76 with occasional run. Breaking ball sat 65-67 with gradual break.
