8/4/14 Future Games: At only 5-foot-8, 140 pounds you may think Bain wouldn't be much of a presence on the field, however during Friday and Saturday's games each time Bain took the field he made sure everyone knew he was out there. Whether he was throwing guys out at 2B and 3B from behind the plate, throwing lasers down to 1B and 2B on attempted pickoff throws, stealing bases, executing a perfect drag bunt down the 1B line, Bain seemed to always be in the mix of things. He was consistently 1.89-1.92 during the game and in between innings with one of the quickest transfers you'll see. He flat out plays the game hard and is full of energy. He possesses good arm strength and athleticism both in the field and behind the plate with the ability to block and receive well.
4/9/14 Game Notes:The 5-foot-7, 135 pound sophomore catcher, ranked No. 15 in Indiana's 2016 class, was an integral part to Mooresville's come from behind win last night against Greenwood. The LHH went 4-5 with 3 2B's, a single, sac Fly, and 4 RBI. Bain hits from the left side with a wide, athletic stance. He showed good rhythm and athleticism in the swing. Ball jumps off his bat and displayed the ability to drive the gaps. Shows good speed on the bases; ran a 6.88 60 at a PBR event in winter of 2013. Behind the plate is extremely athletic and has an advanced feel for the position for a sophomore. It was apparent he was the team's leader. Above average receiver. Has quick feet and plenty of arm strength. Pop times between innings ranged from 1.98-2.01, but never really had a good pitch to throw from. At the 2013 PBR event Bain's best pop time was a 1.95. At times his arm will get long on throws down to second. Also came into to close the game on the mound where he sat 81-83 touching 84 and struck out 2.
2/23/13: 5-foot-6, 130-pound catcher from Mooresville HS may be small in stature, but nothing he does on the baseball field is small. Bain shows exceptional athleticism for a freshman. His feet are ultra-quick behind the plate, leading him to a 1.95 pop time with accurate throws on the bag. The freshman also showed his athleticism behind the plate receiving the baseball. He moves well in the squat and handles velocity well. He shows an overall advanced feel for the position as a freshman. Also ran a 6.8.
