6/11/19

5-foot-11, 165-pound 3B / C. At the plate, starts in a balanced stance with a high elbow. Has a small wiggle in his swing to help with timing; gets off back foot well to create power; has a short and compact swing; stays inside most pitches; ends his swing with a high, one-handed finish; 85 mph exit velocity. Recorded a 60 time of 7.27.

4/15/2019 Spring Scout Blog: 5-foot-11, 165 pound frame. Went 2-4 with a double. Shows looseness in the swing with some twitch. Hands work through the zone well, consistently finding the barrel. 4.79 on the turn. Sound defender at 3B wtih average arm strength.

2/16/2019: Bryce Dorton, 3B/C, Westfield HS, 2020, 5 foot 11, 165 pounds, showed good versatility at the event with good actions at 3rd and an infield velo of 82. Also showed a good release and extremely accurate arm behind the plate with catching velocity of 74 mph. Posted pop times of 1.94-2.04, and as his arm continues to get stronger, I would expect  those pop times to get even better. His arm accuracy from back there stood out. At the plate Bryce uses a controlled leg lift to load, his hands work through the zone very well producing consistent barrels. His exit velo was 87 mph at the event. As he continues to mature, his versatility and simple consistent swing will only get better and separate himself as a player even more.

9/10/2017: 60 Time: 7.61, Position Velocity: INF-73,C-68 Exit Velocity: 79. 5-foot-10, 150 pound sophomore uses good rhythm and balance staying behind the baseball in swings from the right side. Consistently barrelled baseballs in BP rounds, uses small hands load and front foot stride to create small separation. Has more length in stride to hold better finish. Front foot lands slightly closed, cutting off swing on inner half pitch. Has some explosiveness and back side drive through swing, pull side approach with some lift. Short hand path to the baseball. Has some feel and instincts with the glove at third base, works well side to side. High ¾ arm action across the diamond, delivered accurate throws. Behind the plate, tall to catch, one hand catch and throw, feet work left to throw. High ¾ arm action with head and shoulders working towards 3rd at release. Better ball flight/carry with arm strength to be developed. Pop times 2.12-2.25.
