6/23/15 - Indiana once again has a strong crop of pitchers in the 2016 class, and you can put the 6-foot-3, 190-pound Leighty near the top of the list. The right-hander established himself as a high-interest draft prospect after his strong showing at the ProCase. Committed to Wabash Valley JC, Leighty sat 90-91 with arm-side run and occasional sink during his one inning. Working from a high-3/4 slot with a quick, athletic arm, his 80-81 mph curveball showed significant improvement over the last year, as it displayed sharp, late action with depth at times. Although he pitches with effort and his mechanics are raw, clearly Leighty has more in the tank in the coming years.
5/29/15 GAME NOTES:The 6-foot-3, 190 pound right-hander sat 89-90 in the first. The ball jumps out of his hand. High effort, pitches from a 3/4 slot, fairly short arm action that's loose. Breaking ball was in the mid-to-upper 70's showing later break. Chageup sat 80-81 and kept down in the zone with good sink action. In the later innings his fastball was consistently hitting 87 mph. 6/25/14: 6 foot-3 inches/ 190 pounds, Strong, athletic right hand pitcher, fastball is 88-90mph with heavy sink and in the zone. Slider was 75-78mph with late break. Change up was 80-82mph. Max effort guy with a ¾ slot and a long, quick release. Ball jumps out of his hand. Displayed pitchability and had a good feel for the game. Fielded his position well. Going to be a very good college arm with possible professional opportunities.
