He’s consistently 2.10-2.19 with his pop times, but will improve as his mechanics behind the plate improve. At the plate, Hewitt is a switch hitter whose dominant side is from the right side. He hits from a tall stance with a small trigger. Shows balance, good swing plane, and plus bat speed for a 2016.
2-Seam: 73-74, Knuck: 60-64
Hewitt is a projectable freshman that has the ability to catch and play the infield well. His mechanics behind the plate need improvement but shows good projectability. He's athletic and has good size for an incoming freshman. His arm strength should improve as he matures throughout his HS career. Hewitt is a high follow in the 2016 class.
On the mound he shows a short arm action with a quick delivery. His body is tall and projectable and shows good arm strength for a freshman. His breaking ball is more of a slurve.
